This CD proves that music is indeed universal. I can't speak, read or write or understand German but I like Nena's music because of her distinct voice and the beautiful melodies of her songs. Though I must admit that my introduction to Nena Kerner was "99 Luft/Red Balloons" sitting on top of the world music charts back when I was only 12 and my "hormones were raging"....and I have been infatuated with her ever since.
In this CD, my favorites are the first 5 tracks and the last 4 songs. The new version of "99 Luft Balloons" seems to "grow on you" the more you listen to it. Same with "Vollmond".
I am also impressed with track #13, a collaboration with Tok Tok and track #14 - "Carpe Diem". These two are very contemporary and are classic examples of how Nena's music has evolved with the times. It also shows how talented she is, sounding very impressive (and "playful" albeit "flirtateous") in music like these. I am sure that if these singles were released by a major label in the US, it would have garnered some level of success inspite of it being in German. The catchy beat and Nena's voice are enough to capture the ears of listeners regardless of language.
And I guess I would be a hypocrite if I will not say that Nena Kerner's music AND beauty are like vintage one, it just got better with age! If you don't know what I am talking about, try watching her more recent videos and concerts and you will see how wonderful this 40-something music icon still looks and sounds! October 4, 2007

This was the first CD I purchased after discovering that Nena Kerner was still around making great music. I love the way she changed some of the songs. It makes listening to old songs like 99 Luftballons seem like a whole new song. Highly recommend this CD. March 8, 2007

I purchased this CD while in Vienna this past summer, and it's an amazing album. It has so many classics but they're redone extremely well. I recommend this CD to everybody! December 8, 2003

It's great that nena is so popular in so many countries! :)
I only recommend the CD, it's really great. Especially I like "Leuchtturm", "Irgendwie irgendwo irgendwann" and also the English version of it featuring Kim Wild.
These 20 years made Nena very important to Germany! Go on, Nena! December 6, 2003
