If your a Cannonball fan,this cd will throw you back a few steps.It's the rare combination of talent coming from every direction to create an incredible recording.When you combine the compositional and arranging talents of Quincy Jones who arranges all the sides on this CD,and the young explosive playing of Cannonball,fresh on the scene in 1955 for his debut recording,were in for one hell of a roller-coaster ride!The charts are crisp,no nonsense,creations.The ensemble is an all-star cast.The vintage playing of Kenny Clarke and Max Roach & company,make this a real blast to listen to..A great find.Enjoy.'Cannonball' and 'Hurracaine Connie', true gems.Happy Holidays.Health and Happiness to all.

The version I have was made in the E.U. but comes in a nifty mini-lp replica sleeve and has been very, very well remastered; so much so that you won't believe that the material on this album was done decades ago! Cannonball's playing already shows his great promise here and he also had great help from other greats such as Paul Chambers and Max Roach. The ten tracks here cover a lot of ground including be-bop and truly showcase Adderley's versatility. Highly recommended for all jazz sax fans.
