I am a total Linkin Park fan, and an ex-band nerd. To hear Linkin Park in a whole new way was totally mindblowing. Other than the mix up in tracks, they really know how to take hardcore music and make it sound beautiful, plus this cd along with the rest of my SQ collection helps me sleep. And seriously, anyone who considers this "butchered", some fan you are. This is truly an awesome addition to the LP collection.

You know that feeling of sympathetic mortification you get when you see someone humiliating themselves? This album does not manage it with the style that sells teen movies, although it's not hard to imagine it being performed by a few members of a teen music camp. One gets the feeling that there is little care for how severely Linkin Park is being butchered (I never thought I'd see myself write that) here. Indeed, this is one in a long series of "String Quartet Tributes," many of which actually satisfy a certain modestly shameful hunger of mine. I LIKE to hear pop music put to the classy slide of strings. Well. Or even with some gems spattered here and there that make it worth the bother. It doesn't even have to be innovative. But this album is none of those things. It's just four instruments playing something very close to musak -- they could've layered the pathetically weak tracks, even, but that apparently was too much bother. I would recommend the tributes to Coldplay or U2 if you would like to see what this series is actually capable of when someone there actually gives half a damn about the original music.

I love linkin park, but i'm not really into classical, stringed instrument, except the guitar of course. I have the cd on order and it should be coming soon. But when i sampled it on this website, i was shocked: they actually didn't screw up. The songs sound familiar if your a l.p. fan, so you won't be disappointed. If anything, you'll have a greater respect for violins and stuff. It's ten of thier trax plus can't stop what i'm hearing within, which is an all new track. I love anything that has the sound of l.p., i might even pick up fort minor. In the end, despite what other reviewers say, it's a decent, well-done tribute to a great rock band that is linkin park.
February 17, 2006After listening to the previews of this album and previews of other String Quartet Tribute albums, it sounds to me that this quartet does put forth a great effort at recreating these popular songs. My biggest issue with these songs is that there is no real depth to the music, in the way that there was when Metallica recorded their S&M album with the San Francisco Symphony. Maybe if the quartet had a few more players, then their musical attempts would gain greater recognition.
