When Jake "The Snake" Roberts tied Macho Man to the ropes and seeked his cobra on his arm, little did we know that Macho Man would have an epiphany of this magnitude. He only released one album and this was it. It's a shame, because when asked about his new masterpiece, he said "This is what I'm all about right now." You could hear the enthusiasm in Macho's voice about his upcoming album and musical future. This album runs the gamut from meeting honeys at the clubs ("Macho Thang") to being a man ("Be a Man") to preparing you for his lyrical assault ("R U Ready") to letting everybody know that he is back with a vengeance ("I'm Back"). He even waxes lyrical and gets all cathartic up in the hizzle when he spits rhymes about his girlfriend doing him wrong ("What's That All About") that manages to introduce the listener to his true feelings and thus elevating the listener's psychic consciousness to an unprecedented level like no other song before or since. This album is just a relentless onslaught of cacophonous beats and mind-warp verses that will shake your foundation to the core. If you thought Bob Dylan was pop music's genius, think again. Just some of the sick, brilliant, profound, riveting, life-changing examples of America's TRUE poet:

-"Not a fair-weather friend/You were there through the storm/You're not after Macho's money/Cuz you're far from the norm"
-"I'm the wrestlin' king/But now I'm spittin' lyrics/Took a break from the ring/Cuz I want you all to hear this"
-"I've been king of the ring/Since back in the day"
-"Inside, outside, this side, that side/Come on hit the floor!"
-"It's not wise to mess with Randy/Cuz you'll catch a beatdown to the third degree"
-"It's the Macho Man Randy Savage/Droppin' the hotness on you/What it is, is what it is and so until next time, peace out!"

With this album, Macho joins the annals of Tupac, Biggie, and Eminem for his place on the Mount Rushmore of Rap. Enough said. Buy one copy for your house, one copy for your car, and one copy for your wife. It will be the greatest, most earth-shattering experience she ever encountered or will encounter. Her life will never be the same again. A+ September 1, 2008

As a white male going up in a rural area, it was hard to find the right music to fit my life. Country was too redneck, rock too typical. Rap always interested me, but all the popular rap acts just sounded... wack. It wasn't until 2003 when my prayers were answered, and former-wrestler-turned-rap-fiend "Macho Man" Randy Savage dropped his rap-tastic debut. "Be a Man" features 14 tracks of straight-up-dope rhymes all provided by the macho man himself. From the blistering title track calling out that punk Hulk Hogan to club-thumpin' anthem "Hit the Floor", this Macho Man knows how to party.

A lot of people diss me, using big words like "irony" to justify my tastes. I don't know what metal has to do it, but "Be a Man" is one of the best -- if not THE best -- rap album to come out in ages. In today's world, we need a rapper who can pump up the fun and brighten our lives with his beats from the streets. I also think it's time we need a rapper who isn't afraid to use the word "butt". (Take that Will Smith!) The Macho Man has redefined the game from the ground up, and Big3 Records should be proud to have him on their roster (next to Rick Derringer and Cheap Trick). The only beef I have for the Macho Man is... it's been five years! Where's the follow-up? May 22, 2008

"Hot diggity damn Hulk I'm glad you set it off," insists Macho Man at the beginning of the title cut, adding, "Used to be hard Hulk now ya done turned soft" It's an outrageous boast, even given the usual braggadocio of rap artists, but for all its audacity, it's a rhyme that's damned hard to refute. Not since Run DMC's "King of Rock" has there been an album that truly reflects the 4 elements of hip hop (DJing, MCing, Tagging, and endorsements from beef jerky manufactures) Macho Man's vocal range is truly an unexpected delight. One minute he is gruff and angry and the next minute he is raspy and irritated. It truly is quite the emotional roller coaster. I once had an out of body experience after a terrible car accident where I envisioned myself being held in the hands of God. He looked me in my eyes and whispered ever so gently, "You are my most precious creation." That feeling pales in comparison to levels of ecstasy and kick-assitude one feels when listening to this album. The album couldn't be more appropriately named, "Be A Man". The Jews have a ceremony where a young boy becomes a man called a Barmitzvah. This album, no, journey has been a Barmitzvah of sorts for me. I started listening as a boy and finished as a man. This album is off the hook. Macho busts some amazing raps and leaves his critics silenced. Macho can flow with the best rappers on the planet. Even 50 cent knows that Macho is the Man. Randy Savage busts heads in both the ring and on the mic. Nobody can hang with his crossover skills, he's the best wrestler-turned-rapper in history.

Some people here are hating on Macho. These haters are sucker chumps and don't know anything about rap. Macho could rap any of these chumps under the turntable. Macho could elbow drop any of you chumps so you better pay homage to the ORIGINAL king of the ring (and the king of the mic). If you're messing with Randy Savage then you're insane in the brain.

And let me say this about Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan is not a man, he's a chump. I hope he's reads this review. Hogan used to be hard but now he turned soft. Hogan never has and never will be a man. Macho Man called him out years ago and Hogan is still running from Macho. Hulk Hogan is a real big punk. He's running from Macho like he's got a disease. He's avoiding Randy Savage because he knows he'll get smoked. For once in your miserable life be a man Hulk. OOOOOOOOH YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! December 10, 2007
