Honesty is worth the price and a listen

Rodney Atkins is my favorite male country singer (he is sometimes rivaled by the handsome Josh Turner). I think his songs speak to people about life, and the authenticity he strives for his present in his music. I admire his songwriting abilities, his vocal power/range and good looks. "If You're Going Through Hell" is one of my favorite albums, and after absorbing that, I wanted to listen to his sometimes criticized album "Honesty." I got it from glorious WalMart for 7 dollars.

"Honesty" is good, radio friendly and never fails. However, it is missing the charisma of "If You're Going..." Also, I feel like Rodney really put himself into "If You're Going..." moreso than "Honesty." However, this has some strong cuts: the title-track deserved to go to #1; "What's Left of Me" has power, "Someone to Share it With" is very relatable and sincere, "The Love We Make" should've been a #1 on the country charts, "I Will Come to You" is very radio-friendly and could've been on a Faith Hill record.

Sometimes Rodney's singing could belong on a Rock album or an R&B record. I guess that is why I like "If You're Going..." more, because it has more of bluegrass/neotraditional/VERY country sound to it, more than a pop/rock/country sound of "Honesty."

However, if you want very melodious, catchy, fun songs, listen to "Honesty." It is great material, and an indicator of the excellency to come on "If You're Going..." If you want to get to know Rodney, in all his real-ness, his love for his wife and kid, his ties to his roots, listen to these records. Then you'll find out why he is so good. I hope sometime before he dies he wins Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs.

Great Mix of Music

If you're looking for a variety of great country music, look no further! Rodney's CD offers a bit of everything that you're going to love. From the very catchy Monkey in the Middle and Sing-A-Long to the lovely ballads of Honesty and Someone to Share it With. Rodney put together a great selection on this CD and I highly recommend it to anyone!

Rodney Atkins CD is Must Buy! You Will Not Be Dissappointed

I first saw Rodney Atkins at a concert in Seattle, WA in August of 2004...wow what a performer he is. The talent and vocal versatility he displays is amazing. Since purchasing his CD at the concert I have not stopped listening to it over and over again. It is a CD you will not be dissapointed with, you too will be hooked on Rodney after one song. Just an extra tidbit, i gave this CD to a friend for Christmas that does not listen or like country music and she fell in love with him, he is that good. January 7, 2005
