Average user review:| Fefe is great!! |
The highlights are: "Stupid Little Love Song", "We Went For A Ride" "Kiss Me Fool" "Revolution Song" and the saucy "Give It Up".
If you are a pop fan like me, you will probably like this. If you see it somewhere for about 10 bucks, I'd say you've spent your money well.
Btw, this girl blows Avril Lavigne out of the water completely! I heard that her record company didn't want to release her second CD for some reason, but I also think she's working on finding another label. I hope she picks a good one and continues making good music! I'll certainly be looking out for her!! June 6, 2007
Unforgiven
Fefe Dobson's Self Titled Album
Nice Debut
1. Stupid Little Love Song- (3/5)- Funky little pop rock/song.
2. Bye Bye Boyfriend- (4/5)- I like the lyrics alot, very real. It's slow in the beginning and goes faster on the chorus.
3. Take Me Away- (4/5)- Good lyrics. Catchy. Alot of people go through this situation.
4. Everything- (3/5)- It's good. Don't really listen to it that much but...
5. Rock It Till You Drop It- (4/5)- I like the guy talking in the background! lol! It's a nice upbeat, danceable hip hop esque song with a rock edge.
6. Revolution Song- (5/5)- I love this song!!! The words are so true! "The words you use to hurt me now only seem to make me strong somehow." It made me cry.
7. Kiss Me Fool- (4/5)- I've gone through this situation before. It's a great song. I like the last part best.
8. Unforgiven- (4/5)- Something you can nod your head to. This song was really personal for FeFe.
9. We went for a Ride- (4/5)- Mellow lyrics, nice flow. I can sing along to it.
10. Give it Up- (3/5)- I don't know about this song. It's kinda weird but the lyrics are relatable.
11. Julia- (5/5)- I love this song!! It slow but very relatable lyrics about friendship. Julia kinda reminds me of myself, even though I'm not anorexic or anything. "And I swear I will help you I will, I will shine my light on you".
12. 8 x 10 - (5/5)- Really like this song. It's a "sign this document to prove your love" type of song. "And I'll show you love, cause we're all alone, Put business aside for life passes by, And I'll part your hair when it's in your eyes, Love".
13. Rainbow- (3.5/5)- I don't know about this song. Cool wispy vocals and nice lyrics. Shortest song on the album.
Overall, I think people who like pop/rock will like this album. Nice, refreshing debut. Can't wait for "Sunday Love"!

Good , refreshing album, for pop/rock fans...
While much of Fefe's music contains a rock feel to it, the album overall is rooted in a pop sound, of sorts. Though I will say this much for Fefe, she does stray away from the typical pop sound, and ventures into many different music types throughout the album. I will agree with another reviewer, Rosan, and say that this IS a refreshing, somewhat original album.
As mentioned, Fefe does explores some different genres on the album. Dobson has necks snapping on the hard-rock "Unforgiven"; then you'll have to pop her cd into your car stereo on the down-tempo "We Went For A Ride". A little hip-hop dancing will go great with "Rock It Til You Drop It". and check out the Broadway Showtune-esque hook on "Kiss Me Fool". These different takes on the typical pop sound earn Fefe the "refreshing" in the review title.
While she does explore these different sounds, make no mistake about it, many of her songs fall well short of spectacular. "Bye Bye Boyfriend", "Revolution Song", "Give It Up", "Julia", and "8 X 10" are all tracks that will have most listeners fast-forwarding to the next track.
And like many have said, Fefe's vocals are not very strong on the album. This is definitely a CD that is based on the instrumentals. "Take Me Away" and "Everything" are the only two tracks that really showcase Fefe's voice. From these two songs, Fefe definitely shows potential, she just needs to show more.
One more great thing about the album, Fefe and her producers are really able to make a cohesive sound while still managing to make each song sound different throughout. There is no track that feels out of place or unfocused. That is a definite plus.
Overall, a solid debut, with some solid hits, and some misses as well. Her second album, Sunday Love, should be something to watch out for. July 29, 2006
