| | Speaking up and Speaking out--letters to the president speaks for itself great album! | |
Hey all! What's up? Hope your doing well. If ya don't mind, I have to comment on a few missinformities. First of all Hawk Nelson/preteen? Well, I'm like 20 something and this is like my fav band about now. Secondly "Sunday's school Simple Plan." Does the word "Canada" seem to suggest the only common ground here? Simple Plan and Hawk nelson do not at all compare. And, I have to mention this Canada president America parliment thing! What? Earth speak please! ummm I don't think tthey're saying that. I think HN verry well know Canada has a Parliment after all they live there. I think there saying it might not be so bad to pass a letter to our president like we have the same probs some of them as
canada, and we do, and there saying then our pres could use dipplomacy to solve more then just Ours or Canada's probs. And, I think some explaining is to be said. "come on, take a good look at all our high schools. This is the first reason that I want to rite you. Must be tough when society is messed up gotta save money please, don't take it out on us! Maybe there mentioning the fact that so much good stuff that's vital and needed is cut from public schools. Most kids I know that are Christians, including me, went to public school, and they're always talking or I thought had been last I heard about all those save the music stuff and all that. I think they mean that they society has money probs but cutting the schools budget for needed programs isn't the answer. This poin is also evidenced in the lines about Tommy the trackstar turned crackhead in the bridge area of the song. They are saying proabably what's not fair in the justice system, is most rapes are not accounted for, and they are saying that Gay marriage happens in states where they don't cdare one way or another and there stating that they should care. The jail time thing well see, ppl that get convicted of Robery and stuff they spend like can spend like for drug and robery like years and years in jail/prison with no beheavior time, and yet murders get like maybe seven to ten okay say thirty, but they have good time and usually don't serve up to even half of there sentince. I don't and of course can't speak for the band, but that's some of my take, I just feel that is what it ment to me. And, please, Don't judge whether what they say is right/wrong. I mean, you have an oppinion right? So do they! What's so bd about them expressing theres. I'm glad that there speaking out and I wish more ppl would speak out on what they believe cuase obviously this is what Jas and Brio and them believe, maybe we should take it as a lesson to speak out more on what we feel. Someone somewhere I read said that this four-pieced band from Canada was brave in speaking out on such isses as letters to the Pres does and I aggree. Anyways, back to album I love the whole thing. Every song could play it all the time. Well worth your money!!! And I love that Trev M shares in so much of the signing writing and a bit of the singing in the band on like a race car. Fmstatic, relientK are good punk bands too, and if you like rocky stuff TFK, thousand foot Krutch is great! Wierd, but that's the only rock/metal band I can actually stand to listen too. God bless all of you, and thanks for hearing me out!
January 26, 2006 | | A Great Cd from A Rising Band
Hawk Nelson is somewhat newer to the Christian world. This is their first album. I must tell you though that this is a great album. They have so many good hits on here. There are some hits that deal with girls, some that death with California and good times, there are some that deal with issues in our political system(hence the name "Letters to the President) and then they most importantly have songs about God. This band has gotten a bad rap from some of my friends for not being mature enough, they just don't know what mature is though. This band can have a fun time while being good Christians. I love this whole cd, and I can't wait for the next one to come out. You should buy this cd!
December 3, 2005 | | Hawk Nelson Rocks, and please do lay off!
I know that who ever wrote that review before won't see this, but I really do think that it isnt our job to discuss what the band believes and say whether it is write or wrong. That is a matter of opinion, and has nothing to do with the music part itself. I mean post the lyrics and let people decide for themselves whether it is right for them. Plus, I'm sorry, but classifying it as pre-teen is silly. I am 16, and my best friend and I both LOVE Hawk Nelson. It is just a matter of preference. I personally dont like hard-core rock....but that doesn't mean that I'm going to go and give a CD a bad review because I don't like that genre. Sorry, but that is lame.
Now, to the CD itself. Personally, I fell in love with tracks 2,3,5,9,11,12,13,and 14. But the others are great too. I guess the fact that I fell in love with over half of the songs on the CD would mean that I classify it as GREAT! I personally like that they aren't pop, but aren't exactly Rock. I'm not even sure how I would classify them, I wouldnt even say punk-rock, or pop-punk or whatever...they are themselves. But don't take my word for it just listen to the samples!
November 29, 2005I'd just like to say that if you think they're "preteen" music, then let the preteens listen to it. Maybe you don't like it, but maybe preteens do. If you are an older teen, and you're looking for punk/rock, don't get it.
Also, to the person who said "they want all schools to be PRIVATE and religious based" I want to say that the founding fathers of this country came here to find freedom to worship God without being persecuted. So really all schools should be "private" and "religious based".
October 31, 2005i agree with everything in the "stale" review. this cd is and never will be anything special. the only people who listen to this are preteen girls.
