About Less Than Jake - B Is for B-Sides

With Less Than Jake on one of the summer's major tours, Projekt Revolution 2004, the pop/punk heroes have collected a disc of tracks recorded for 2003's Anthem - the highest-charting album in the band's career - but never released domestically. In fact, nearly all of the tracks on B Is For B Side have never been released anywhere. After selling more than 1 million records over the past decade and with live shows that continue to expand a hardcore global fan base, Less Than Jake earns an A for B Is For B Sides. I have accepted that Less than jake will never make Pezcore or Losing Streak again; which makes sense because any progressive band eventualy moves on to something different.

In short Anthem was a snooze fest...with the exception of a few tracks. (Roger has the best stuff off of Anthem, Chris' songs are lacking somthing: ie:Short fuse Burning, Escape from the A-Bomb House, Call it a Union and Surrender is just a horendous cover of the original)With that being said, I expected more attempts at being catchy pop-punk and failing.

After a week of listening to B is for B-Sides, I can't stop shouting the lyrics while listening to it. While driving and listening to this album I feel at ease and pissed-off at the same time. Chris returns to full glory with his vocals on this album and every track is catchy as hell.
If you enjoy moments in songs that make you want to sing along and dance then this album has it in spades.

LTJ has finally put out a good pop-punk album (something they've been trying to do since Borders and Boundaries). I'm giving this 4 stars out of 5 because I didn't think Less Than Jake had it in them to make a great album (the last one being hello rockview)...this proves me wrong.
It's just too bad that with "In with the out crowd" Less Than Jake over-steps the pop-boundaries into a land of bubble gum & taffy coated compositions. May 22, 2006

Less Than Jake, from my point of view, changed their style of music completely so that they will sell more albums. For whatever reason, people like to hear distorted guritars with a syncrnized bass, and a fast drum beat(as in this album)...mabe LTJ wasn't happy being an underground band...What they play "now", and what you consider "ska" is not ska. Hello Rockveiew, Losing Streak, now thats ska. it's not just the horns that categorizes a ska band!!!
I miss old school LTJ!!! April 1, 2006

This CD is amazing, especially considering that it is composed of songs "not good enough" to make Anthem. Some of these songs are just as good or even better than some of the songs on Anthem. I think they are both really cool albums and I highly recommend either one, I'm not saying Anthem is bad. These songs always put me in a good mood and keep me pumped. I definitely recommend this album to any LTJ fan. February 1, 2006

This CD is full of great ska songs that really should have been on Anthem. Especially instead of "She's gonna break soon" **shiver** that songs is just blah. Well I really fcking loved this album! August 23, 2005
