| | acoustic EP shows Avril can sing and has good songs | |
I really got into Avril after watching her "Control Room" show that aired on the WB television network. In an acoustic setting her charisma really comes through, and the songs hold up well in that simplified format. Since Avril hasn't done an MTV Unplugged (yet, I hope she does at some point) and the Control Room is only available online, this CD originally sold through Target is the only chance to have an official acoustic release. It's a really nice collection of songs, and with only 6 tracks it flies by leaving me wanting a lot more. I think this was made before her Best Damn Thing CD, because there are a lot of songs on the acoustic Control Room performance from that album that were excellent, and not found on this CD EP. Regardless, the six songs that are on here are all good. It's nice to hear Avril sing without tons of backing tracks and studio overdubs, because her vocals really do shine and sound great - they don't need to be burried in production. She has just the right mix of girlish charm and punk snarl to make a fresh impact in pop music. I wouldn't say the acoustic versions are better or worse then their original releases, just different. If you like Avril I highly recommend this acoustic CD. I read some reviews saying this limited CD is selling in the hundreds of dollars... that's crazy. Right now here on Amazon it's listed at $12 and I got it for $3 off eBay. No CD is worth a hundred bucks! Good grief. Highlights include He Wasn't, Don't Tell Me, and Nobody's Home.
January 29, 2008 | | Good CD! Too much $$ here!
This was definatly a good cd worth buying. Though its not worth $200.00 . Don't buy that rip off price, its only six songs, and you can find great live songs here : www.avriladdict.com :D
March 4, 2006This EP was originally a Target exlusive. So, it's quite dumb how people are selling this for 200 dollars! That's WAY too much. I have this album, that I got here on amazon for 20 dollars. To who ever's reading this-- don't buy the album for 200 bucks. It's not worth it. The songs are okay, they're just live-- and there isn't a booklet. It's just a piece of thin paper with the picture you see on this page. So, please, don't feel urged to purchase this EP. If you want to hear live songs from Avril, I'm sure you could find them on the internet. There are many good Avril fan sites-- just look there! I'm a HUGE Avril fan, but this EP isn't that amazing.
March 3, 2006 | | She has amazing acoustic stuff
All these were originally released electric, but now she's doing them with just her voice and an acoustic guitar. She sounds real good this way, and it's like hearing these all over.
March 26, 2005I think this is an amazing cd avril sounds so much better acoustic and the songs from her new album are awsome! I think all of her new music is better than her old music as she is older and has a wider range of experiences to write about!
