About DJ Jazzy Jeff - Jazzy Jeff In The House

Defected Records is proud to present the next In The House album produced by the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff. Famed for his work within Hip Hop, Jeff takes a little diversion from his traditional sound. He produces what can only be described as a fantastic insight into house music.

"I want to take what Mr. Gamble and Mr. Huff did in the ‘70s and continue the progression of the ‘Philly Sound," he explains. And this is exactly what Jeff has done with his FIRST house music compilation – Jazzy Jeff In The House. The triple-CD collection includes a bonus CD ROM with exclusive interview, photo gallery, special downloads and much more.

This is a collection of contemporary and classic house from one of the biggest DJs in the business and a must-have for anyone’s dance music collection! Album Description

Once again, Jazzy Jeff has come through with that sound. He doesn't need to prove himself in any genre because he's naturally talented and knows what good music sounds like. Hip hop to house ... I love it. Jazzy Jeff KILLS IT on this album and I can't stop listening to it! All I know is that if Jazzy Jeff showed up at the club and held it down, it would be like heaven. oh. yes. What can I say, but all 3 CD i can play over and over never get tired. If this does not make you move you butt, nothing will. This will get the party started! I do not think he ever puts out a bad CD, all his CD's are great. September 30, 2005

First off - this guy knows his stuff. He's an expert and a pro. I always viewed him as a hip hop DJ from his other work but when I heard this mix I was extremely impressed. Mixing the Temptations with Kenny Dope? Damn. Great selections from back then and great cuts from recent releases. Plus there is a DVD which shows him in the mix and answering some questions for Defected. The mix isn't totally jazzy, deep, funky house but also dives into the realm of funk, r&b, soul and some world beats - it's just completely dope. The reason I give this CD such high marks is not only that I enjoy the music - but this guy actually took a chance and really portrays a real love for music and over two decades of collecting vinyl and respecting different styles that helped to mold his own style. When I heard that Jazzy Jeff was going to do ItH, I was a little suprised. He's done hiphop, but this is his first foray into house music territory. Jazzy Jeff adds his own unique taste and sensibility to these discs. He mixes the old with the new, and really pulls it off nicely. It reminds me to respect the so called 'oldies'. They still sound great! This one is right up there with the top ItH releases. Note to Jazzy Jeff:Please do more house in the future! January 24, 2005
