Average user review:| i'm surprised so many people hate this album |
the first song was "easy breezy" and i was instantly captured by the fun, bouncy song. it was cute and made me want to dance.
she burned me a copy of this cd and it has become one of my top 10 all-time favorite cds. the lyrics are racy and the songs are fun.
i can see why some people would have a problem with the whole "japan-EASY" lyric, but who knows if she directly meant that?
maybe this guy she was with in the song THOUGHT she was easy? who knows. who cares. the song is fun. i love it. the end. June 12, 2008
| A MEXICAN IS REVIEW!!! |
utada is my favorite female Japanese vocalist, her voice is just fantastic.
I speak english and spanish but now I want to learn japanese too. I think j-pop
is better than pop music in english and spanish. and utada is a good example. this cd is my second favorite, my favotite #1 is first love.
THIS CD IS AN ENGLISH VERSION. mix hip hop and tech music.
if you don't know j-pop, this cd is a good way to start. June 11, 2008

| A Disappointing Effort From A Great Artist |
Exodus is disappointing because the music is discordant and the lyrics are tripe. The only exception might be Exodus O4.' I guess the word that captures the whole album is disjointed. It's not Hikki. Unless she speaks otherwise, I say that she was probably pressured into a certain image and she certainly was not marketed well.
Being her CD came off a well known label, I question their influence and the producers that worked with her. A lot of her lyrics on this CD are quite shallow, tacky, appear stereotypical, and present an unattractive image of her.
Were they trying to create an oversexed version of Hikki? I wonder.
I recommend you listen to the snippets well. If you compare the album to her Japanese releases - First Love, Distance, Deep River, Ultra Blue and Heart Station - this album is JUNK.
Since Hikki speaks English very well, I am disappointed with her lyrics even more. She can express herself well in Japanese, and I know she can in English. There is a huge divide of quality between her Japanese releases and US release.
I recommend her Japanese releases over this album. Her Japanese albums have great lyrics, great song placement, and quality production.
Distance, her second CD, is to me like Michael Jackson's Thriller album. Each track stands well on its on and the entire album is a solid effort. This is not to say her previous or following albums lack the same commitment. Her latest releases show her growth and experimentation. The only thing I can do without is the stupid interludes.
Her latest effort Heart Station (2008) is beautiful. Track #1 Fight the Blues blends well with the second track Heart Station. The producer has a good ear and guides her well.
To end my review, I say this - don't buy an album where you get a fake representation of this young woman. Support Hikki as she really is and I believe her real self is represented by her Japanese releases. April 19, 2008
