About Jennifer Lopez - Rebirth

Love her or loathe her, uber-diva Jennifer Lopez knows how to deliver on record. She understands how to make the most of her limited vocal range, choosing to surround herself with able producers Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland, Big Boi and Cory Rooney, who oversaw Lopez's first album, On the 6. The mix makes Rebirth far more enjoyable than it should be, coasting on midnight-groove ballads and polished dance tracks. Lopez's fourth studio album offers little insight into her much-gossiped-about persona, but it's an undeniably fun ride anyway. A blaring James Brown horn riff drills first single "Get Right" into your head almost immediately, and soon enough, you'll find yourself bopping to the beat. The Middle-Eastern flavor of "Step Into My World" is undeniably seductive, and it's actually enhanced by Lopez's wisp of a voice. "Whatever You Wanna Do" and "Cherry Pie" are solid dance tracks, the kind of grooves Janet Jackson made before she became a Superbowl afterthought. Elsewhere, the album is peppered with R&B ballads, much like Lopez's 2002 opus, This Is Me ... Then. Rebirth is hardly a groundbreaking affair, but it continues to showcase Lopez's skillful trend of producing solid, catchy, R&B-laced records. Nothing here ever sounds forced or canned, and in the world of MTV and radio edits, maybe that does make Lopez a bit of a revolutionary after all. --Joey Guerra

This is my first album I've ever listened to by J.Lo and I really like it. I am amazed at the amount of bad reviews people gave for this album, but I'm not a veteran J.Lo fan.

"Rebirth" is fun, funky, and gets me dancing. Some of the songs are kind of hokey. They're the type of songs I would expect to find on an Ace of Base album. No disrespect to Ace of Base because I like them too, but the lyrics get pretty cheesy sometimes. They are the type of songs you memorize and sing along to in the car.

In any event, if you haven't listened an album by J.Lo before, you'll enjoy this one very much. It's a nice blend of what you would expect, like dance songs, coupled with really nice r & b slow songs. August 8, 2008

I like Jennifer Lopez, but her albums keep getting worse & worse!! "Rebrith" is another piece of garbage.

Get Right: Usher, your song is missing

Step Into My World: Nothing Special

Hold You Down:Cute, nothing more than "cute"

Whatever You Wanna Do: "Get Right" part 2

Cherry Pie: Sounds like a Whitesnake song

I Got U: Her voice sounds really bad

Still Around: Nothing Special

Ryde Or Die: Where's DMX!!LOL

I,Love: Hold You Down part 2

He'll Be Back: Best song on the album

(Can't Believe)This Is Me: Can't pull of angry

Get Right: Just a bad remix

"Brave" is worse than this!!

I received this CD as a gift and I played it so much, I'm ordering a replacement. Amazon has it at $7.97 so I'm buying two, to give the other as a gift. It's a great album. I love the different styles of music, some dance, some ballads, some just sweet and whimsical. I love them all but I'd say my favorites are "Hold you down" with Fat Joe, "Cherry Pie" (I hit the repeat for this one many times) and the latin flavored ballad I, Love, there's so much emotion in that song, it just swept me away. If you like variety, great grooves and of course, Jennifer Lopez' style, you'll LOVE this CD. It's really her best! Listen to the samples, imagine it on your stereo at home. It's meant to be blasted on your high quality system. December 2, 2007

I bought this album on iTunes and was dissapointed with J Lo. "This Is Me...Then" was probably her best album hands-down. "J Lo" comes in 2nd. I am a fan of miss Lopez and I think she can sing but she unfortunately wastes her voice on disposable tracks that aren't memorable. I loved "Get Right" and those horns that play in the background. "Cherry Pie" is also pretty catchy. I also like "Step Into My World" and "Hold You Down" featuring Fat Joe. Some of the songs on the album are just unlistenable. This was not much of a rebirth for J Lo. It pretty much kept to the same style of music as "J Lo" and "On The 6." Hopefully the next time she goes into the studio something better will come out. There are only a few listenable songs on the album and I hope J Lo releases a better album next time. Sorry but I give this a mixed review. July 13, 2007

Jennifer Lopez is the grand diva of fantasy and media enterprise. Only because she is wealthy and shrewd can she get away with such drivel. She is a media machine and has a great following. Too bad nobody has the audacity in the music studio to simply state the obvious...the woman can't sing! Her hinchman, Marc Anthony, whom I once referred to as the grand Maestro of Salsa, has lost an excruciating amount of credibility amongst many of his fans by leaving his beautiful wife Dayanara and their toddler and new born son in order to runaway with and worship J-LO. He simply looks like a buffoon following the scent of this depraved and ingenious businesswoman. Jennifer has no talent but she has the PR pull to make this album platinum. How the public can see that she can't sing but still buys her album is simply a mystery to me. J-LO's voice is annoying, irritating, and lacks heart, but I guess it doesn't matter because she's like another Sanjaya of the current American Idol series. She simply sits pretty as others with true singing ability simply fall off the charts. March 29, 2007
