I admit to having been very curious about both Teairra Mari & Rihanna since they were both hyped up at about the same time. I thought they'd both be 1-hit wonders and am very surprised about how events have turned for them both: while Teairra has been dropped from the label, Rihanna has become an industry darling who not only now has a GRAMMY (!) but is also reportedly working on her 4th album.

I think that Teairra can definitely sing and deserves another shot with better material. My one major problem with this album is the overuse of the "n"-word. Now I've listened to my fair share of hip/hop & rap and while I can overlook the limited use of the word on rap tracks, when a young African American female sings a chorus with this word, I have to draw the line.

I think that had she been presented & marketed differently and a stronger 2nd single selection made, Teairra coulda been contending with Rihanna right now because honestly both girls are beautiful, have a certain "it" factor and given the fact that Teairra has a great voice she should've been able to sustain at least for one more album.

This album as a whole follows the same tired formula as all of the new r&b/hip pop artists are using: huge beats & recycled lyrics. The only standout tracks to me are: MAKE HER FEEL GOOD, STAY IN YA LANE, GET DOWN TONITE & CONFIDENTIAL.

Overall I can't recommend this album unless you're curious about comparing Teairra's debut to Rihanna's and debating with friends about how one newbie got so hot while the other got dropped. February 18, 2008

i dont get why people are hatin on her, her songs are so good!
"No Daddy" has a great beat and great lyrics. "Make Her Feel Good" has an awesome beat, but she says the "n" word wayy too much in this song. "Get Up On Ya Gangsta" has a hot beat, really good lyrics. "Phone Booth" is a really good R&B. great lyrics and a great beat. "MVP" makes her seem a lil conceited but i still like it. the beats sick especially durin the chorus.
i can't wait for her 2nd CD!

*MY TOP SONGS*

1. No Daddy
2. Phone Booth
3. Make Her Feel Good
4. Get Up On Ya Gangsta
5. MVP December 25, 2006

i don't care what anyone says, this album is more than decent! I like about 9 out of 12 songs on this album. My favorite song is Act Right. I love it!!!! Phone Booth is also good, so is New Sh**, Stay In Ya Lane, Get Up On Ya Gangsta, & Get Down Tonight. I like the No Daddy Remix better than the original. 3 songs that i absolutely can't stand are M.V.P., La La & Confidential. Yeah Teairra Mari is too young to be talkin bout sex and grown folks problems but if you think about it, all teenagers are going through this and she's just being honest about her life. I hope her all the luck in the world because I actually like the album. I think she deserves another chance and she should get a better team of people to help her with her album, it's not like she can't sing (way better voice than Ciara &Jennifer Lopez) Hope you have a second album that's better! Well, when I heard Make her feel good, I thought she was gonna have a great album... i put it in and i heard the first track which was the debut song, but as the cd went on to the rest, i found that i really didn't know what i was buying. I was really disappointed with this album, and she's a lost star, because where is she out now? a couple months ago, i heard the radio dj say she was out being a bad girl, she ain't doing nothing with her voice.. i guess i expected more from her... cause jojo made "get out" when she was what? 14? and that was a smash, and Her entire album is Great. but teairra, she can't live up to keyshia cole.. Teairra Mari burst onto the scene last summer with the banging Make Her Feel Good. Although the song was a summer smash, Teairra Marie failed to delvieer on her debut album. This flop was mostly due to horrible lyrics about nothing and not so great production. Teairra Mari does have a good singing voice, despite comparisons to Beyonce (which I don't think are merited but anyway) but the people around her didn't do a good job particularly the songwriters. Some songs are just flat out horrible such as No Daddy, MVP, La La, Phone Booth, Confidential, Get Up On Yo Gangsta and the No Daddy REMIX which are just flat out wack and uninspired. Borderline unlistenable songs. There are a couple songs however that do show the potential of Teairra Mari. She hooks up with Rodney Jerkins for the best song on the album in my opinion on Stay In Ya Lane...in which she shows her vocal ability while at the same time letting her personality seep through the track. She gets down with Cool & Dre on Get Down Tonight which again excellently shows the vibe that she can shine on. New Shhh, and Act Right are the other two songs that save this album from being a complete disaster. Hopefully on her next effort (if she gets another one! which I hope she does) She will be able to capitalize on the things she does well and leave behind the unnecessary. She has potential but is not fully displayed on this album. 2 stars. July 15, 2006
