I first discovered this hottie (Yes I said it, this boy is HAWT)on MTV one night right after an Ashlee Simpson video ended. I thought for sure I was in for more pretty kid crap when his voice rang in and the song was not only good in a teeny way but actually excellant in an adult world.

So I ran out to buy the album and found out everything I could about this young man who had my heart all in a tither. Finding out he was signed to Madonna's label and had secured that deal by calling into an LA radio show and performing only made me realize more how talented he is. Combining the sensitive yet so misunderstood trauma of the latest slew of pop punk boys and the like, his music is more lyrically driven, with acoustic guitars, a handful of real players, real drums, real guitars, you get it? It's for real man!

The single "When It Comes" is what grabbed me but the humor of "The Letter Song" keeps the momentum going through the album. It's true, his sound is geared toward the top 40 of say 1991 perhaps, that doesn't mean the songs aren't catchy as all hell and not only is the music in a league so much more than teen pop, his voice full of scratches someone so young shouldn't have, makes you completely forget that this kid is on "One Tree Hill."

I am not Tyler Hilton's brother, not a relative of any kind, not a friend, don't know him, not a flack, just a listener. I first heard Tyler on One Tree Hill. I kept meaning to buy his CD but I kept forgetting his name. Stupid me. This CD is really terrific. John Major move over and weep. This has melody, beat, lyrics you can actually understand and relate to, I just love it. I can't stop playing it. I just hope he gets a chance to reccord another professional album. February 7, 2007

well, first, i was very sceptical about buying this album... aside from hating tyler hilton's character in one tree hill, i do not have any assurance that he plays good music, but still, i gave it a try... and damn! when i listened to this CD, it was so good that i kept playing it over and over again! the songs played in this CD are soothing to the ears and heaven to the soul.. i just loved how he strammed the guitar well... and the genra of the music is really nice! it's so fun listening to this CD! favorites are glad, kiss on, insomnia... and the whole bunch of it?! promise! YOU WON'T REGRET BUYING THE CD! November 10, 2006

When I randomly watched an episode of one tree hill, I saw tyler but didn't think much of it. I didn't care for the character he played and didn't realize he actually had a cd out. Then I caught another episode where he played his song "When It Comes" and absolutely loved it. I couldn't believe it was him playing so I started searching on the internet about him. He actually wrote this song. They guy is young, but has a ton of talent. His voice is different. While others compare him to howie day and jack johnson, I say he is separate from them. His style isn't the same as theirs and I like that. His others songs have an old school mellow but rocking out feel. It's hard to explain but this is a must have cd. Cannot wait for his next cd to come out. June 2, 2006

For fans of Gavin DeGraw:

So, I first found out about Tyler back in 2004 but I never bought his CD or anything. Then I forgot about him for a year. And here I am, totally in love with this CD.
First off, I love his voice.
It's different. No, not the different that every other band/artist is, the real different. It kind of reminds me of Elvis (which would make sense seeing as he was pretty much Tyler's biggest influence, and he played Elvis in "Walk the Line"). But don't get me wrong, he's not a replica of Elvis AT ALL (or anyone else for that matter)

& secondly, I find it nice that he writes, plays AND sings his music. I think that shows a lot of talent.

Breakdown of the CD:
Song Rating My Opinion/My Favorite Line from Song
1.) When it Comes 5/5 First Tyler song I heard.
"I study up my hollow piece of wood to follow a day that doesn't come to the lucky."

2.)The Letter Song 5/5 This song instantly clicked with me. It's catchy and the lyrics are clever.
"My thoughts belong in a book in a store where they're silently read, but spoken no more."

3.)Glad 5/5 Second song of his I heard.
"Everywhere you go, perfection. Follows you the wrong direction."

4.)Rolling Home 5/5 It's a slower song (and I'm not usually a fan of songs that aren't really fast) but I don't know, I just love it. It's kind of got a mellow sound to it and it's relaxing. and from the lyrics, my guess is that the "rolling home" is his tour bus when he's touring. =)
"Cause in the land of the moving suns & moons that fly one by one, provided shades don't shut against them."

5.)Pink & Black 5/5 It's got a great tune, I usually have it stuck in my head.
"Love is never in the same place that you left it."

6.)Our Time 3/5 Ehhh not one of my favorites. It's nice, just not one of my favorites. Kind of has a country sound to it.
"Sorrow hangs like a halo, baby, on my head."

7.)Kiss On 6/5 My FAVORITE song on the whole CD. The music is great and the whole song just flows amazingly.

8.)Slide 3/5 Again, not my favorite.
"So see if I could find my life in the shadows that you hide."

9.)You, My Love 3/5? I don't know. It's ok. It's a ballad type song.
"The end seemed so much greater than either side of the equator."

10.)Insomnia 4/5 This one's actually really slow, yet I find it not bad. Mostly piano.
"So I'm stumbling through this hollow room for peace of mind."

11.)Picture Perfect 5/5 I don't know, I just love the guitar in this one. All it is is guitar and his voice. It's got a great tune.
"She ties a ribbon to and with the stars, she lets me know she's mine."

I recommend this CD AND this artist.
Check out both One Tree Hill soundtracks. He's on both and the songs he sings on both are both amazing. :) May 25, 2006
