Upon first listen, my husband and I weren't sure we liked Stapp's first solo effort. We were both Creed fans but not fanatics...liked some, left some. After listening to this album off and on since its release, we find ourselves listening to it more and more often as time goes on. These songs definitely grow on you. They become more interesting, more inspiring, and more, well, SUBLIME as time has went by. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Creed, Alter Bridge (who now have two great accomplishments), Nickelback or even Evanescence. Good stuff that withstands the test of time. Must buy. This is an okay album; it's not great or bad. The singing is obviously the main focus, and the music behind it is pretty good. If you're a huge fan of Scott Stapp then you will most likely enjoy this more than I did - if you're a fan of Creed for the instrumentals, you'd be best directed towards the band Alter Bridge. 'The Great Divide' is Scott Stapp's first solo release after the break up of 'Creed'. I must admit I was a long time fan of Creed and loved the music and most importantly the lyrics. Whilst Creed was not known as a Christian rock group, Scott Stapp was a Christian himself and in the lyrics came out his beliefs. Upon recieving this CD I gave it a twirl and I had to listen to it twice over and at the end of the second listen I approved of the nature and context of this uplifting and solid album release.

If you are a ex Creed fan like me, you will like The Great Divide. If you don't like Scott Stapp (as many do), don't attempt to get this album. Whilst many of the songs have a 'Creed' feel and sound about them, there are songs such as 'Justify', 'Let Me Go', 'Sublime' that shows an experimentation and change in the style and sound of Stapp. Once again, the lyrics in the songs are top notch and well worth the purchase alone of this album.

The Creed friendly songs are 'Fight Song', 'Hard Way' and 'You Will Soar'. The new band Stapp has behind him are different from Creed and I enjoyed the new sounds of this background band especially the guitar player.

Having said this, since this album, Scott Stapp has not released a second solo album and it will be interesting to see his next plans. Heres hoping that he does infact come out with a new solo album. Indeed, this album had a great collection of songs that will appease Creed fans and new listeners to Scott Stapp as well. April 1, 2008

I love his hardrock voice and wish he would make another album. I will follow him if he is on his own or heads another band like Creed. Scott is awesome and his lyrics are top-notch even when the rocker sings on the slow side. Guitar is so cool and he truly has a sound and style all his own. Try it out, the entire album is great, plus you can put it together wuth Creed's gratest hits and get all the best of Scott Stapp...you wont be sorry!!!! March 29, 2008

I have heard a lot of bad stories and negative things about Scott Stapp, and I really don't care if they are true or not, or what kind of person he really is. The honest fact is that the guy has an unbelievable singing voice and posses a hell of a lot of music talent.

If you enjoyed listening to Creed's music before they broke up, then this is a must own album. The album has enough of an edge to it that fans from Creed would enjoy hearing, but at the same time it clearly displays how great of a singer Scott Stapp really is. February 21, 2008
