I bought this CD for two songs but after listening to it...the whole thing is great!
May 6, 2007I've often wondered what happened to Terrence. How could such a talented cat who is still recording to this day have fallen off and disapeared so comlepetely. Well, this album answers those questions once and for all. The four best songs are all from his debut, some of the later ones are o.k, like "Elevators And Hearts" and "Do You Love Me Like You Say?" but the choruses are repeated endlessly and this is the main problem with his post debut material- repetition. If you are really interested in T.T.D, you should either buy his debut or the more expensive import version of his greatest hits which has "The Other Side Of Love" and some of his better later material. He does do a nice version of "A Change Is Gonna Come" and a great live version of "Under My Thumb", but his original material like "Vibrator"is kind of tiresome and wears out it's welcome real quick. He has also changed his name to Sananda Maitreya, not to be confused with Sanjaya Malakar.

T Trent d'Arby is a fantastic artist. My only regret is that I attempted to download the mp3 of his newst creation, Vampires & ?. Sorry I don't remember the entire title. I was just disappointed that I could not order it here in the states. I know he relocated out of the states but I still feel we should promote his music, he is one of the greatest musicians of my lifetime.
January 9, 2007In the 80's when he was at the height of his career I remember how much I enjoyed his music and I wanted to experience it again. It brought back great memories. There was a popular show back then called "21 Jump Street" and his music was featured on the show quite often. It was great listening to his music again. He is a very talented singer and I miss hearing music like that. If you have never experience Terence Trent D'arby, you are missing a wonderful soulful singer.

Do You Love Me Like You Say: The Very Best Of Terence Trent D'Arby is now available. Terrance Trent D'Arby brought something new and different to the U.S. music scene in late 1987 with his album The Hardline According To Terrance Trent D'Arby. The album would eventually sell twelve million copies. he has a very unique sound. It didn't fall into the R&B category that most black foreign music stars were placed into and he wasn't straight pop. Terrance's unique blend of funk, rock, pop and R&B landed him three back to back U.S. chart hits with "Wishing Well," "Sign Your Name," and "Dance Little Sister." Terrance never matched the success of his debut album in the U.S. but he continued to be a musical success on the international music scene.
Do You Love Me Like You Say: The Very Best Of Terence Trent D'Arby brings together seventeen of Terrance Trent D'Arby's classic hits. It's a real funky CD and it's a satisfying blend of his early work and his later hits. The set also includes several rarities. "Dance Little Sister" T.T.D.'s remix is here as is "Under My Thumb" the unauthorized live bootleg. It's a really great album and if you are a Terrance Trent D'Arby fan you will be pleased with this set. Even though Terrance didn't have lasting music success in the United States he truly was an influence on U.S. music acts. Artists such as De'Angelo and Maxwell appear to be slightly influenced by Terrance Trent D'Arby.
