About Adam & The Ants - Prince Charming

Digitally remastered and expanded jewel cased edition of British New Wave act's 1981 album, the final release by the Ants before Adam went solo. Dropping the pirate gear, Adam became both a prince and a 'dandy highwayman' for this album, creating a set of songs that were sonically unlike anything on his previous releases. Although still melodic, the songs were less rhythmic and even more theatrical than before. Features 16 tracks including 'Stand And Deliver', 'Ant Rap', 'Scorpios' and the title track plus six bonus tracks, 'Prince Charming' (demo version), 'Showbiz' (unreleased demo), 'Picasso Vista El Planeta De Los Suimios' (unreleased version), 'Who's a Goofy Bunny Then? (unreleased demo) and 'Scorpio Writingf' (demo version). Columbia. Album Description

rating: 5 Stand...and Delivered!!
Great to finally have a remastered version of this amazing Ant music release. My econd favorite Adam release, this bring back so many memories from high school days. I recall seeing the three fun videos on MTV back in the day when they were a music channel. These songs, even the deeper, less known trcks, hold a near and dear place in my musical memory.

Many people find it embarrasing to say out loud that they like Adam Ant, but here I am, an adult, with over 26 years of being a fan, agrreing with others that this stuff is still great and fun. February 1, 2008

rating: 3 Not the Best of the 80's
This CD just seems to be lost. The music is not that great.

It was the look of Adam Ant that sold. And that isn't much important to your ears.

Sorry, I don't recommend this fake put on.

I'm not big on pirates either. June 9, 2007

rating: 5 I love this CD!!!
I bought this as a replacement for a record album (vinyl LP) and I am very pleased with it. The sound quality is excellent. Don't buy this for the extras (demo stuff), they really aren't worthwhile. Get the Stand and Deliver DVD with all the music videos from amazon.uk I am not expecting a US release of that DVD. March 11, 2007

rating: 3 Three hit singles & the rest a mess - "Naughty North...Sexy South!"
Coming off the impossible-to-match KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER, a peerless example of one of the best albums of the 80s, Adam, Marco and the posse had a lot to answer for in this miscalculated, muddled follow-up that's more facile sell-out than artistic statement - still, if you stick with the addictive, outlandish trio of hit singles...well, at least hits in the UK (STAND & DELIVER, ANT RAP, and PRINCE CHARMING), you'll do fine. It's really the brilliant campy kitsch of the VIDEOS that puts these songs across - now I just wish Sony would sort it out and finally, finally, finally reissue ALL of the ANTS' videos on DVD to replace the musty, moldy VHS tape that'll have to do until then. rating: 1 The record that trought the Ants jaggernaut to a screeching halt.
Impossibly bad. Unlistenable. Adam (with or sans the Ants) made some fun, catchy, interesting and enduring music, but none is on this album (except "Stand and Deliver" which was, is, and always will be brilliant fun.) A betrayal and a swindle. September 27, 2006
