This cd is great. When you're down just listen to this and meditate on the greatness, the wonderfulness of the Lord. It's very healing. It's food for the soul.
June 2, 2008As I approach the celebration of my 2nd year anniversary of being cancer-free, Kirk Franklin's Songs For The Storm Volume I have truly blessed my soul. What most people don't understand about having cancer, is that being in remission is just as difficult as actually going through chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It has been a daily struggle for me. Yes, not only are there physical changes (like hair and weight loss), but there is also a loss of your spirit and your mind. However, this CD has carried me through some very tough days...He Will Take The Pain Away, Conquerors, Blessing In The Storm, The Storm Is Over Now and Look At Me Now are my favorites. I also bought a copy for one of my sister's, who is also my best friend. She lives over 3,000 miles away from me and was very distraught that she could not be with me while I was going through my storm. We have both been blessed and encouraged tremendously! Thank you Kirk!
December 12, 2007I bought this CD without honestly realizing that it was a compilation of songs from the previous albums. It was nice to hear these songs again, but I it won't be a CD that I play often. For example, "Melodies from Heaven" reminded me of my youth choir days. But it wouldn't be a song I would pick to hear if I'm going through a storm. However, I support Kirk Franklin so, hope he stays blessed.
August 26, 2007Kirk Franklin is remarkable...just when you think he can't out-do himself, he goes and out-does himself. The single "Look At Me Now" reminds me a bit of Hosanna because of it's blistering pace and perfect construction. The music completely fills the space without losing it's sharpness. I love the horns...i love how crisp the voices are...i love the lyrics. Even though you wouldn't expect a song titled, "Look At Me Now" to be a humble look at one's past, it is.
"Look at me now!
I'm stronger this time around!
Not because I was so good, but somehow
You looked past where I was
And you knew I'd come through cause You loved me
Look at me now!"
Kirk never fails to mention God's grace, he recognizes scripture and uses it appropriately and in context. I love this guy!

This CD is very uplifting, and includes some of my favorite tracks from Kirk Franklin. I would recommend it for those times when you are feeling down and you need encouragement. This was a good purchase.
