When I listen to the Cat Stevens songs remastered from the early 70's I can't believe how state-of-the-art they sound. The PF songs may have been more complex to first produce, therefore having limited clarity and dynamics. But there have been remarkable improvements in sound reproduction over the last 30 years, and so I really expected a bit more from This CD.

There may only be a slight improvement in these remastered versions, my opinion.

Maybe in order to get a fuller, more dynamic sound, they would have had to replace the low-end sounds and stereo effects that could have sounded richer and more spacial. I really beleive that would have been the remastering that the fans hoped for... not the purist approach, which is to do the best with Just the original tracks... but respectfully augmenting the songs to a standard that the original mixers were Wishing for.

I'm not even sure I prefer listening to these versions of songs that I have from non-remastered PF CDs. I have a Best Of CD from 1989 that I think has the best mix; but maybe my hearing is just off...?

I write this sad. I love the music of The Partridge Family. I may have bought this though just for David's version of The Puppy Song and I Write The Songs; those are great tracks to listen to on this CD. December 28, 2007

Writing this from the perspective of someone who has gone to great lengths to acquire decent David Cassidy music for his fiancee, I can tell you that this CD is probably one of the best ones I have found. It blends classic Partridge Family hits with modern David Cassidy, and every song sounds wonderful. There was enough of the old stuff to keep even me interested, and the "new" music was actually quite good. David has a fantastic singing voice which is often overlooked because of the bubble-gum pop that he did in the 70's...but after seeing him live in April (took my fiancee for her birthday), I can honestly tell you that he's still got it! And so does this CD...you won't be disappointed. June 11, 2007

This cd is an excellent mix of David Cassidy songs with Partridge Family highlights interspersed. It is a very interesting concept to set it up this way.

Anyone can argue over what has been omitted or included for we all have our Partridge favorites. The important thing is it is an excellent overview of those very happy years and as another reviewer said - is remastered for the best sound quality yet with any of these collections.

It is an awesome listen and stays in my cd carousel all the time. A definite must for fans.

No doubt about it, the sound quality on this DC/PF cd is the best out there! And while the song selection is decent, it could be so much better!

Obviously, David had a hand...maybe the sole hand...in this song selection. Although he hates Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted, that is no excuse for leaving it off a greatest hits collection, since it was one of the highest charting PF singles. (Apparently he hates the song because he hates talking (not singing) during a song, a la Elvis' Are You Lonesome Tonight. But then why doesn't he object to his talking in Echo Valley 26809, which he includes in this set??) Also, if he was going to include songs after his Bell label days, why did he stop at I Write the Songs and Darlin' (which is a terribly truncated version) and not include, say, Lyin' to Myself? He should simply have gone solely with the 1970-1974 period. And You Are Always On My Mind instead of, say, Friend and a Lover, or Brown Eyes, or Point Me, or so many other great choices??!

Anyway, it still includes most of the best PF/DC songs, and for that, it is definitely worth a purchase!
