Great choices of Luther songs. Good easy lisening music. If you love Luther and jazz-you will love this album
October 28, 2008I've had this cd for awhile and I continue to enjoy it as if it was the first time. It's classic music performed by accomplished artists that sounds great, time after time after time. It's timeless!!!
October 22, 2008I had the opportunity to hear this at a party in the Oaks. And was very taken by the selections and arrangements. Unfortunately I never received my order the seller after numerous contacts finally told me they wereout of stock. Really disappointed with the communications should have used amazonfor my seller, never had a problem there. Sorry nothing good to say on this one.Except go amazon for most of your CD buying needs.
March 25, 2008 | | CAN'T STAND LUTHER VANDROSS OR SMOOTH JAZZ
I am neither a Luther Vandross fan or a "smooth jazz" fan. I stumbled across this, and dismissed most of the musicians. I actually preferred the 2nd tribute album (blue cover), but I ordered them both after listening to the samples. And I have to say, I LOVE THESE CDS. I never liked LV's singing, and I just cannot abide smooth jazz as a bit of a purist. I have Dave Koz and Boney James cd's that I use as drink coasters! I love George Benson, and I will be looking into more K. Whalum. I found the 2nd album b/c of P. Austin and G. Albright. Do yourself a favor and get both. I have friends who love LV who have never heard this, and love it. I think these albums are both well done enough to appeal to any number of tastes.
January 10, 2008 | | Far Superior to the First One!!!!
Actually, in retrospect, the first tribute wasn't too bad - my biggest complaints were with Celine Dion/Dance With My Father, and the standouts were Ledisi & Layla but for the most part, a very admirable tribute album. The second set is quite nice with an equally stellar cast providing very tasty interpretations of Vandross classics. Quite honestly, I didn't even know a second set was available. When taken together, they both provide an excellent tribute set to Luther and well worth adding to your collection.
