darn fine single!

i first came to love sophie ellis-bextor back in 1997 when she fronted the great, but shortlived, theaudience. she was a wee 18 years old back then, but she already had that very distinctive voice: breathy, sultry, and decidedly english. in other words, it's perfect.

'catch you' is an absolute riot -- in every single positive way imaginable. it's a perfect slice of europop. it's catchy, danceable, energetic. it's kylie on speed. it's maybe THE dance floor anthem of 2007.

but behind the glistening production is an quasi-stalkerish song. but anyone who's seen sophie would be hard pressed to file a restraining order! (she's that beautiful). 'catch you' may, in fact, be more of a mandate to those who've yet to fall under her spell. resistance is futile.
