Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

I love this album by Amy. she defenitely has a great voice and very unique stile. Highly recommended. May 3, 2008

 SURPRISINGLY GOOD
When I saw her perform on the Grammy Awards I closed my eyes and listened to the songs. They were great. A little jazz, a little soul, and a little of her own. This CD even has a taste of Motown. I gave it four stars instead of five because the vulgarity was not necessary to make this a great CD. May 3, 2008

 Amy, I, too, like your Daddy, think you should Go-Go-Go to Rehab! As a matter of fact, I think you ought to Go-Go-Go RIGHT NOW!!
Amy WHINEhouse is a questionable character on many fronts, but I'll focus on her slippery connotation relating to her musical disabilities. That's right: I wrote musical disabilities because an intellectually honest and independent evaluation of her "music" (read: untalented caterwauling) will force one to admit she's a pitiful singer. This overdue and correct castigation of her musical disabilities doesn't even say anything about another of her flaws, her personal wickedness through giving in to temptation and self-destruction. I'll get to this later in my stunning review.

WHINEhouse undeservedly enjoyed nothing but embellished hype over her voice, her CD and her "music," but listening to Back to Black objectively--unlike the subservient sycophants who praise her to the high heavens--one MUST conclude that she's a manufactured invention of sensationalism, devoid of real skill!!!! Her voice is probably that which is unduly hyped the most of her doubtful talent, so I'll analytically skewer that first.

WHINEhouse feloniously draws flattering comparisons to singers around whom a favorable consensus is built, singers like Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Ronnie Spector, etc.. On a purely vocal quality alone, it's a crime to compare her to any singer of repute because her voice resembles an unlucky, underprivileged person whose septum has totally caved in or is not in functioning order (this may well happen to her as a result of unrelenting drug abuse!). I cite the septum metaphor since WHINEhouse's voice sounds defectively nasal, high-pitched and somewhat congested even--like she's got a chronic cold, flu or just some foul obstruction in her nasal passage. Many a times, her voice also suspiciously sounds forged as if she's contriving her whole singing style. For a 24-year-old, she comes off sounding unflatteringly like an old, fat man of color, especially when she lowers her voice. Her defective voice also sounds frighteningly and abnormally MASCULINE; watching her sing, it's almost like a parody on MAD TV because you wouldn't expect that MANLY voice coming out of her, that thin wraith.

Corresponding to this suspicion of her being a forgery, she clearly is plotting to be something she isn't when she purports to be a jazz singer. She's scandalously impersonating black singers by even aggrandizing herself to that distinction. In fact--though, again, her mindless, sycophant fans will not even realize this--WHINEhouse is a JEWISH, WHITE girl from Britain. She's nothing but a poser. To that effect, the only thing that's "real" on her CD is the backing band's music which is, ironically, very listenable. So, if WHINEhouse was silenced on her own CD and her band alone played, that would greatly rehabilitate this CD's likeableness.

My most withering and scorching reprimand needs to be reserved for her personal wickedness and misjudgments. Her personal wickedness and misjudgments are wildly exhibited all over her suggestive and influencing lyrics. Let's examine WHINEhouse's absolutely dreadful example she sets for anyone listening to her caterwauling:

In Rehab, the lines go: ...if my daddy thinks I'm fine/He's tried to make me go to rehab but I won't go, go, go

Instantly, what should strike the principled human is how WHINEhouse is fiendishly defending and advocating resistance towards getting help for substance abuse despite the correct insistence of loved ones like one's family!!!! Her lyrics are infected with unsavory putridity like this. Kids shouldn't listen to this, nor should people who have principles or value clean living.

In Back to Black, the lines go: kept his d*ck wet/You love blow and I love puff

In just these two lines of poisonous debauchery, WHINEhouse manages to sneak in profanity while also shamelessly extolling the apparent virtues of drugs in a mutually self-destructive relationship.

In just the two, aforementioned songs, topics so savagely obscene like drug use and indulgence in it are feted; the theme in WHINEhouse's lyrics is really abhorrent and unhealthy.

What utterly disturbs me, and other morally upright people, is how the WHINEhouse apologists continually fabricate excuses for her despite the implicating fact that her CDs only serve as a vehicle for her to appreciate money so she can squander it on self-destructive drugs/alcohol. I was scanning the earlier reviews--mainly because of my outrage at the moral relativists stealing five-star reviews for WHINEhouse without ever mentioning her vices--and was appalled at one WHINEhouse-fanatic defending her imminent self-destruction through drug abuse by writing that Amy can do anything she wants to with a voice like that!!!! This means that buyers of WHINEhouse's music know she's going to misuse the proceeds for illegalities, but they non-judgmentally insist on subsidizing her!!!!

WHINEhouse's father-in-law may be the genius in that family as he's gone on record advising her crooked, misdirected fans to stop buying her music until she sobers up...he's 100% right. I second that stand. In fact, this past Monday, WHINEhouse was arrested in the Netherlands for--wait for it!--yup, you guessed it: doing drugs! How can you so-called fans sleep at night knowing you're subsidizing this train wreck's self-destruction with your money?!
