Although the production is impressive and on point, this album lacks character and direction. It almost feels more like a random compilation of tracks that never really goes anywhere or says anything. They evidently tried to emulate some current club and dance music styles, but it somehow feels forced. Do It Again could be a decent late 2000s house/techno anthem if it weren't for the cheap, horribly annoying "paint my face and bang my drum" bridge section, which sounds lazy and throws the whole song out of character. This sort of thing happens with most of the songs. Three stars for the edgy, talented audio production, but that's about it. Sorry guys. July 3, 2008

Everyone, even the amazon editorial busted on the salmon dance. Which is my favorite song on the track. I can listen to that one song over and over. Then again these people probably don't like weird music like clap your hands say yeah or architecture in helsinki. May 16, 2008

Well after the single release of "Do It Again", We Are The Night made it's appearance in the U.S. The wait wasn't necessarily worth it.

While "Do It Again" did peak some interest as to what was in store for the LP, one listen to the LP made you wondering what happened. The album doesn't take the staple C.B. format - start strong and fade. I'm not even sure what the "strong" part of the album is.

"Saturate" turns out to be a real standout good song, and the LP version of "Do It Again" is well done. Other tracks that end up being worth repetitive listening are "Das Spiegel", "Burst Generator", and "Modern Midnight Conversation". Thank goodness for the skip function.

As others have mentioned, "The Salmon Dance" might well be the worst song ever released. Not just by the Chemical Brother, but ever! I have no idea what anyone was thinking putting that together. It's terrible and is the 'nail in the coffin' for an overall mediocre album.

Maybe things will improve next time around. An apology for "The Salmon Dance" is a good start.

what happened? im just perplexed. i like different styles of music & i am all for supporting bands that i like to switch it up a bit & expand themselves. but i still expect the same passion & creativity to come through, even if they banged on some pots or played spoons.

i dont want to say anything bad about them, because all these years (its been over a decade) & as the dust brothers, they have continued to please me very very much. ive seen them live 4 times. im just hoping this was a once off & we can get passed it. i've heard rumours that sony kind of pushed them this way but who knows???? Up until now CB have been one of my top groups. They've got some great stuff out there. This album is worse than I can really verbalize, so I won't try so hard (just like they didn't try with it). Go to youtube and check out the salmon dance. If you can watch that and tell me it sounds good to you, by all means get this, but I haven't found the hamster dance funny since the 90's and it is about as good. I am 100% positive that much of the support of this is just because it's by CB. If it was their first album, they'd never have gained any traction at all with it and for no other reason than that it is horrendously unenjoyable and amateurish. March 12, 2008
