Mandy Moore's CD, "Wild Hope," introduces us to a new, talented, folksy singer-songwriter in the style of Anna Nalick, Jewel, and Sara Barielles.
Chances are, you have already heard of Mandy Moore. She appeared in a few movies and also released several teen pop albums back in the late 1990's/early 2000's. At the time, she was compared to Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Augeleria. Well, forget that Mandy Moore. Now, she has re-emerged as a promising talent with a fresh new sound. My favorite songs on the disc are "Extraordinary," "Wild Hope," and "Can't You Just Adore Her." If you are a fan of Jewel and similar songwriters, I highly recommend this album! June 10, 2008

Mandy Moore has a beautiful voice, but her band is terrible. The music is just... boring. She needs a better band. May 15, 2008

rating: 5 QuoteThe album I always knew she could makeQuote
I was 10 when Mandy Moore first came onto the scene with her single "Candy" and album "So Real." Her sound was just like Britney Spears/Jessica Simpson, bur at my age then, the bubblegum lyrics were enough to keep me satisfied. However, where Britney/Jessica remain pop clones, Mandy has gradually matured and developed at the same time as I have gotten older and not been content with bubblegum crap anymore. I moved towards artists like Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, etc. and I feel like Mandy's new sound on this album is on the same level as these artists. I loved this album because it has such a wide of emotions, from the moody and reflective to in-your-face and angsty. I was waiting for her to make this album all along, because it represents who she truly is as an artist. April 29, 2008

I cannot count myself as a former Mandy Moore fan; I don't own any of her other albums, and I don't like bubble gum pop. But I do love folksy, alternative, pop/rock-driven music (e.g., Fiona Apple, Kylie Minogue, Alanis Morrisette, the Corrs). And this album, along with Kylie's X (and R.E.M.'s Accelerate) is simply among the very, very best albums I have purchased in a long time. The lyrics and music are lovely; nothing seems contrived. Really, the melodies are absolutely haunting. I now count myself as a MM fan. April 1, 2008

rating: 5 QuoteGrown up Mandy has finally become a true artist.Quote
I've been a fan of Mandy ever since I watched A Walk to Remember. She is a composed, classy and beautiful girl that often does not get enough credit. I followed this album for a while. It comes as a result of Mandy fighting very hard to finally be able to write her own songs and break away from the pop star mold she was forced into. After many years of struggling with record compaines she was finally able to release this album.

The songs are subdued and relaxing with thoughtful, reflective and mature lyrics. The first thing that will catch you off guard is Mandy's vocals, which have definately matured and become much more deep and soulful on this album than any of her other musical works. Her voice really shines on this album and it allows one to appreciate her vocal talents. It took me a while to warm up to the album, but I now listen to it regularly and don't seem to tire of any of the songs. I have found that it is a very cathartic album as it expresses a full range of emotions which the listener can also tap into, however it does have an overall melancholy feel to it, which is great for listening to when you have things on your mind.

Give the girl some credit for taking a risk and fighting for creative freedom on this album. Mandy has finally become a respectable artist and I hope she continues along that path. March 27, 2008
