The worst remix album ever

Stop! in the name of music... and good taste! Another collection of remixes and of course they are awful. Some songs are just electronic games jingles («You keep hangin' on» specifically). When I heard this record for the first time I thought something was wrong with my cd player («Ain't no mountain high enough» sounds like a scratched record). This expensive record is as ridiculous as the laughable names of the remixes. You can't even dance on them! The only songs you can listen to completely are too close to the originals: so what's the point? September 26, 2007

Divine Divalicious Ear Candy!!!!

Could the hype & promise possibly live up to the expectation? When I saw the track listing I was dreading having to listen to yet another remix of "I'm Coming Out," (two versions), "Upside Down," and "The Boss," yet was pleasantly surprised how reworked and fresh these classics are as presented here. "You Keep Me Hangin' On," "Stop! In The Name Of Love," "Baby Love" and "You Can't Hurry Love" feature Diana Ross, Mary Wilson & Florence Ballard re-imagined and re-invented, and it works! Simply divine divalicious ear candy! My only let down is that not more Supremes recordings were retooled. I would especially have loved to hear "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart" reworked, but maybe this will pave the way for more Supremes remix projects in the future. For a real treat, check out the Ashford & Simpson Songbook CD. The Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell track "Aint' No Mountain High Enough" (Arthur's A Major Reconstruction Mix) features the horn break from "Itching" in the bridge. That homage to "the girls" just brings a wide grin of recognition each time I hear it!
If Diana and Mary could just work out their thing and maybe recruit one of Florence Ballard's daughters who can sing to embark on a real farewell tour. Perhaps they could get backed by the surving Funk Brothers and perform new arrangements of their hit recordings from a more mature, retrospective point of view. Who else can sing of the highs and lows of love? As the French DJ on the Motor Town Revue In Paris said in announcing the Supremes...."Elles, sont trois, elles sont radisant, elles sont belles, et elles s'appelle Les Supremes et c'est pas pour rein! (They are three, they are radiant, they are beautiful, they are called the Supremes, and it isn't for nothing!) The Supremes have seen and done it all!
Wouldn't that be giving hardcore Supremes fans a night in heaven? Think of the energy and love vibes that would generate! But in the meantime, please Japanese mix masters sir..... can we have please some more???? August 26, 2007

Its Definately Inventive

I am one of the remaining die hard Ross fans so I buy most whatever I see is new, remixed, or warmed over. I was curious what the Japanese take on club remixes would be. While there is no one track that totally blows me away they consistently kept my interest on songs I have heard hundreds of times. Captain Funk's version of Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where Your Going To?) is a Faux live performance in an early 1980's Punk/New Wave style remix. Sounds bizarre I know but it works. Reminds me of early Blonde. The Boss (which has been remixed dozens of times over the years) sounds fresh and contemporary. No way do I think this will be a hit in the US but if your a Ross/Supremes fan its worth it. July 31, 2007

Great Idea That Misses The Mark And WAY OVERPRICED

This was a CD I had ordered without the least bit of hesitation, After hearing it I had wished I had had a chance to sample. This is a great idea,
remix one of the most popular bands of all time. However the project comes up short. Grant it that there are a few good tracks, the rest fall short of grabbing the dancefloor. You Can't Hurry Love And I'm Coming are decent dance tracks, the remix of Ain't No Mountain was to say the least DISSAPOINTING. Just a drawn out intro that never really goes anywhere. Oh Well I guess if you're a Supremes Fan you''ll buy this just for the pure novelty of the disc, my advice look for a used price that will save you $10 or $15. July 30, 2007

Diana and The Supremes Are Never Leaving !!!

I bought this cd because i not only love them, but wanted to hear the mixes which i always buy from other artists. I LOVED them all! I would have to say that if this would've been a US release, I could so see the music company promoting the Remixed album with Stop In The Name Of Love.
First there was Marilyn Monroe Mixes from Japan, Now Diana Ross and Supremes. What next, Elvis Presley !!!
