About Magic Tree House: The Musical

Based on Mary Pope Osbornes beloved series of childrens books, MAGIC TREE HOUSE: THE MUSICAL brings Osbornes enchanting tales to life onstage. With the authors blessing, playwright Will Osborne (Mary Popes husband) and composer Randy Courts fashioned a Broadway-style musical that expands on the books adding characters, deepening relationships, and expanding themes. The result is a musical full of rollicking tunes and rich orchestrations that add up to a delightful experience for the whole family. The cast includes Cass Morgan (Broadway's Mary Poppins, Floyd Collins, Pump Boys and Dinettes) as Morgan le Fay, Donna Bullock (Ragtime, A Class Act) as Queen Guinevere, and veteran film and television actor Howard Sherman as Merlin. Osbornes young protagonists, Jack and Annie, are played by New York actor Paul Wyatt and Connecticut native Katie Brunetto. Product Description

I took my daughter to see the show live about a month ago and she's STILL singing some of the songs. She loves the MTH books and couldn't get enough of the play. That said, as an adult viewer it's just not the best stage show I've ever seen and some of the songs are a little hard to listen to. I applaud the Osbornes for providing their public with a way to be part of Jack and Annie's world and can truly say that my daughter loved the show, but I hope if they do this again that Mary Pope Osborne writes more of the script and that they work with a different composer. I purchased The Magic Treehouse Musical for my seven year old granddaughter who enjoys listening to audiobooks and music while we travel. She was thrilled with the product and eager to share this time with her grandmother. My only complaint is that I was having to turn the volumn up and down. At times the voices were so faint they were inaudible-to be followed by a song which blasted the eardrums. This proved to be a good way to introduce my granddaughter to musicals. October 14, 2008

My 7 and 4 year old love this CD. We've had it about 3 weeks and it's all they listen to. They have the songs memorized. My 7 year old and I are going to see the Musical this weekend. Should be great since we already enjoy the music. Hope they turn more of the books in to musicals. We'd would buy them for sure. October 2, 2008

I ordered this cd for my 5 year old daughter, since we will be going to Magic Treehouse - The Musical. She loves it and wants to hear it ALL THE TIME. I also enjoy it -- I'm a fan of musicals, and this music is just as good as that of many famous musicals. September 22, 2008

As a musical by itself, it's terrible. The plot is crazy bad and the show can't stand on it's own compared to other children's musicals (like Annie, Seussical, or any of the Disney mammoths) because unlike them, this has nothing to offer adults. Granted, I'm looking at this as a musical connoisseur, but if you don't compare this to orther musicals, then maybe it's all right. September 21, 2008
