Paper Walls is Yellowcard's best CD yet. The lyrics are meaningful and the music is (as always) amazing. My favorite tracks are "Paper Walls", "Shadows and Regrets", and "Dear Bobbie". The first time I heard "Dear Bobbie, I wasn't sure what I was listening to and thought the CD was damaged. But then I started it over and listend more closely and I was blown away. "Dear Bobbie" is such a sweet and endearing song. This CD is amazing and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Yellowcard or has never bought one of their CDs. September 18, 2008

Yellowcard bounced back from a disapointing Lights and sounds album where it declined the fan base and the popularity of the band. Captial Records gave them a one more go on this to see where this album will go, boom! Paper Walls shows up and not many people even knew Yellowcard was still around nor a new album. I bought this album looking to see where this album would go, the first track "The Breakdown" brings a older past of the band's first major record "One for the kids" which really got me into this album and more excited to hear more of the tracks.

The single "Light up the sky" was a poor choice, I mean to be honest there was other tracks on the album that could of killed that song like "Afraid", "Paper Walls", "You and me and one spotlight" or "keeper". I am very very very disapointed that Captial Records didn't promote this record, infact gave up after the first single.

Now that the band is broken up and Captial records let them go, this band in many eyes are labeled a "one-hit wonder" but really in my eyes a Very UNDERRATED band that showed the world what true music is about and not bunch of MTV wannabes.

Buy this record cause it's worth every penny of it. August 4, 2008

Yellowcard has always been that band that either has a really good song, or a boring song. Ocean Avenue either had really good songs, or really bad songs. Lights and Sounds was just awful and a waste of my time. This cd, however, is much better. May 25, 2008

I had always thought i liked emo, but this emo at its most bland. Yes, dashboard confessional's songs all sound similar, but they don't all sound alike like yellowcard's do. They ALL wind up and down predictably like a cat with its tail in a pencil sharpner.
The rest of my winding review: There is much better fair out there; thank goodness we can listen to samples. I was excited when i saw the Kmart commercial for the new release, because the clips sounded way cool. I would have been upset if i had paid full price. I recommend listening to the MP3 downloads and see if u find 1 that suits u. Buy Brand New or +44 or AvA or Crosstide (i prefer their old stuff, or Opposite Day, track 7, or visit their myspace & it will blow you away-- oh ya, like butter on toast. They are from portland, oregon-- close to WA state, you know, where modestmouse is from-- checkout their Moon & Antarctica, as it has a lot of variety & like 16 tracks, too)... uhh, or anything else i would think, out of those i have mentioned, hmmm? --That is , if you want better-wrought emotional chords. Amidst all the punk-pop that was dominating the airwaves in the early `00s (and still is) was Yellowcard, who created a classic album in Ocean Avenue. Their follow-up Lights and Sounds was also good but it appeared that the band was slowly trying to stray away from the emo sound. But it looks like they're going back to that sound on Paper Walls.

This is far from being a bad album, but the only song that really stands out is "Shadows and Regrets". The necessary acoustic songs "Dear Bobbie" and the title track are also good, though, as is "Cut Me, Mick" (the title obviously being a reference to the famous Rocky line, but the song not so much). The thing is, even though violinist Sean Mackin is still wholly present, Yellowcard somehow changed from a great band to "just another" emo band. Paper Walls is still a good album, but if you're not a big fan of Yellowcard, B.I.F.
