"London", "Screaming in Digital", "The Killing Words", "NM 156" and "Empire" should have been on here instead of all the demos (which weren't even real Queensryche versions). Were those demos part of "the best of" the band? I think not. The record companies just keep re-hashing these compilations and they're always going to miss key songs. For a "casual" fan only. The biggest hits are all here, I guess. December 25, 2007

This has to be the best compilation's that I have purchaed in a long time. I don't like the "Best Of" title, Sign of the times suited it just fine. I don't remember Queensryche being signed with Capital Records but they (Capital) released this album. You have 17 tracks that is from their original albums that we have purchased over the years even if it's has been on cassette, CD, record or even 8 track. I don't own the 15 other tracks and I don't buy repackaged albums that I already own. Queensryche did it the smart way, they released all the songs that they re-released on their "Remastered" CD cause no one was going to buy them, so why not give the fans a best of album with some b-sides on it. I'm not going to listen to the "best of" side on this CD, I'm going to listen to the b-side CD on here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they could have put some other songs on here, but this is a good enough compilation to me that is worth the price they are selling it for. 4 stars just because I didn't like the "Best Of' title. Sometimes when the artists get involved with a best of package...well sometimes it is just not a good thing. There are just sooo many glaring omissions. If I was to put this together it would go:

Queen Of The Reich
The Lady Wore Black
Take Hold Of The Flame
Walk In The Shadows
Gonna Get Close To You
Revolution Calling
I Don't Believe In Love
Eyes Of A Stranger
Empire
Silent Lucidity
Anybody Listening?
I Am I
Bridge
Sign Of The Times
Breakdown
Open
I'm American

You could have a 2 disc set just for the best of and little rarities. But what is on here is great just wish they would have included more or at least have Empire on here. The fan however does get a nice bonus with the second disc. Most of us have the remastrered cd that came out a couple years ago so including the bonus tracks from those was not a inticing as say the complete MTV unplugged show or some more live performances from the Promised Land tour. All in all it is an ok package but I am not sure who it is meant for. If you want a good introduction to the band you can start with the first Greatest Hits collection, then Operation: Mindcrime, Empire, Promised Land...etc. September 25, 2007
