I've heard Suzy Bogguss on the radio for years, but never bought anything of hers until now and I love it. It's the best ever. April 14, 2008

I just recently purchased this new release by Suzy and at first I was a bit confused by it. I really enjoyed her prior album "Swing" and was half expecting another light and fun album, but was a bit taken back by this moodier-bluesy album. Her vocals are outstanding as usual, and there are some excellent songs like "Bus Ride", "Baby July" and the title track "Sweet Danger". The cover of "If You Leave Me Now" is currently stuck in my head-and I'm torn as to whether that's a good or a bad thing. The one disappointment as to be the second track, I don't think "Everything" works, it masks and layers the best voice in music under a lot of reverb and techno processing. It's also pretty obvious who wrote "Chain Lover", it's all Suzy, all the way. The remaining songs are all nicely crafted and add to this wonderful little jumble and yields a great album for those quiet rainy days at home. Great job! April 11, 2008

A fan of everything from Country to 40's Standards, I find it difficult (and unnecessary) to classify Sweet Danger. I just know I'm impressed. The timbre of her voice has brought me back to this recording again and again. Unlike most of my music collection, I simply don't tire of listening to this album. There is a resonance to her voice so pleasing to my ear, coupled with an ease and sincerity of delivery that is just a pleasure to experience. I'm anxious to see more of this type of material from Ms. Bogguss. April 7, 2008

Suzy is real! This collection shows her versatility in so many ways. It is eclectic to be sure but it works for Suzy!! She's not like Reba McEntire who compromises to do "what sells". Well, maybe this work from Suzy "doesn't sell" but that doesn't mean it isn't endearing, unique, original and underrated. The most haunting tune on this CD is "In Heaven" which is reminiscent of "Aces", "Letting Go", and "Cold Day in July" from her earlier CDs. Suzy sings with such emotion, yet doesn't oversell the songs (like Reba, Martina, Faith or the other commercial artists). I had to listen to this work a few times before I appreciated how much I love Suzy (I have every one of her projects from the beginning of her career)! Her voice is also unique...she doesn't sound like anyone else out there!! Its too bad country doesn't appreciate her, but she's always loved by her fans who know a good singer when they hear one. Yes, "Sweet Danger" is highly recommended!! March 25, 2008

The maverick country crooner again defies the norms, this time becoming Nashville Norah. Sweet Danger is the soundtrack to a stay at a late-night diner, where hats and haute couture commingle, where the dogs and trucks and stock futures have all died, where a cuppa joe chases a Tanqueray, where the lady on the stage is equally likely to perform Chicago ("If You Leave Me Now"), Beth Nielsen Chapman ("Right Back into the Feeling"), or her own self- or co-written material (seven of the twelve songs herein). The showcase is the bittersweet "In Heaven," where love asks permission; like Kathy Mattea's classic "Where've You Been?", the song leaves implied the bedrock truths. And that lump in your throat ain't no chicken bone. March 25, 2008
