| | Nightwish is the new Era of Metal-meets-orchestra! | |
i am always a big fan of nightwish. it was sad to see eva leave the band, but she had things to take care of, so i respected that. i think this album is still awesome. they really inspired me so much with my music too. i'm a producer, and they are worthy to be inspired.

July 9, 2008Excellent CD! All of the songs are unique and well written. The new singer is a wise choice to replace the very high vocals of the original singer. In fact, I prefer the new vocalist who I can actually understand. The original singer hit notes that were too high. I could not understand what she was singing about because she sang too high.
The new Nightwish is far better than the old. I rate this a five star product-
July 2, 2008 | | Would have been better with Tarja
The material on this album is solid, the band plays solid, and the vocals are decent. I'm all for trying different things musically, but no one will ever be able to top Tarja's vocals on all the other Nightwish albums. After she left, they truly did lose one of the greatest singers of all time. I will admit, the vocals are not bad on this disc, and the whole album is enjoyable. I just cannot help to wonder how much better it would have sounded with Tarja on board. Check out Tarja's solo work "My Winter Storm" under her own name. It's quite amazing, and will hopefully leave you as breathless as it did to me. Also, pick up "End of An Era"; Tarja's last outgoing with the band...it is one amazing performance from some of the greatest musicians on the planet. These guys truly made a spot in my favorite band slot.
July 1, 2008 | | The beginning of an amazing era!
When I knew Nightwish was having a new singer, I was as nervous as everyone else was. But after listening to Amaranth on Nuclear Blast, all my fears went away. Her voice suites the new twists this album has, and I think, this is their best to date. The lyrics are deeper, the themes more mature and lyrical, and of course, Anette's beautiful voice brings it to life.
All the songs are amazing in their own way, so I don't have specific favorites, which was a surprise when I bought it. I saw them in Vegas back in May, and they were unbelieveable! Yes, I am sad Tarja left, but Anette deserves a chance if you still love Nightwish. Sure its different, but you shouldn't judge a voice by the first time its heard. This is for anyone who used to love, and who's getting into Nightwish. This begins a new era for the band, and I'm so excited of what's to come!
June 21, 2008 | | Not Nearly As Impressed As I Was Before...
I've been a big fan of Nightwish for quite some time so I was a little worried when I heard they had gotten a new lead singer. I decided to listen to the album on iTunes before buying it at a store here and I'm glad I did. While the new lead singer has a good voice, she just doesn't match what they had before. The style has changed enough that it doesn't feel as fantastical as Nightwish's music used to. While I won't say this is a horrible album that isn't worth buying I WILL say that you should preview it before buying it, don't rely on your love of the old Nightwish, because you may be surprise...and not in the best way possible.
