rating: 4 A More Evolved Matt Costa
This album went above and beyond my expectations for Matt Costa's sophomore release. I really enjoyed his first album and various EPs and was hoping this album would be as good as his first. Many musicians seem to release their best material on their first album and their subsequent albums come up short and I was concerned this curse would befall Matt. Well, this album is better than his first. Most of the songs are classic Matt Costa songs but there are a few stand out songs that go beyond anything Matt Costa has previously recorded.

So why not 5 stars? Well a couple of the songs seem artificially long. That is they would be better 3 minute songs than 4+ minute songs. One spot in the album where I find it difficult not to press the skip button is about 4 minutes into "Emergency Call", especially sense "Vienna" is the next track and one of the best songs on the album.

Overall I am very impressed with this album and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good music. February 9, 2008
