| Love Is My Religion is a GREAT song!!! |
| Great Message |
Love is My Religion is a solid reggae album with a message that I eat up with a spoon. Sure there is a dog or two on the album but in totality it is an impressive effort by Ziggy. Throw in the fact the cat's name is Ziggy and we have a sure fire winner.
On the title track, Ziggy absolutely nails the Rasta/love vibe. I mean love is his religion folks.
I appreciate those who have religion in their life, I'm not exactly one of them...this track sings directly to me. In the line "Love is my religion. I don't condemn, I don't convert" he did just that. I'm sold.
With such positive and loving lyrics backed by a solid, bouncy, reggae upstroke going on in the background, I can't help but dance with a huge smile on my face. This is sonic sunshine.
Throughout this album it is very clear that Ziggy has found himself love and he is more than happy to share it with everyone else. On the slow jam track A lifetime, Ziggy sings the line "A lifetime isn't enough to love ya". I'm pretty sure he convinced whomever he wrote it for that his feelings were strong.
Happy for ya Ziggy.
There is also an acoustic version of the title track on the album which I surprised me with how good it was. Ziggy stripped down is quite impressive. I am hoping at some point he will release a complete album just like this.
If you get the opportunity, this album is well worth a listen. If you don't have enough time for all of it though, don't miss "Love is my Religion". It really is a gem.
