 Makes me yearn for Mellow
I can appreciate the fact that Olivia abandoned her early country-flavored folk/pop of the mid-70's for a bigger career. It's pretty neat watching younger people get excited when clubs play "Xanadu" and other songs from that part of her career. As for me, Olivia's greatest recordings are found in the early records--a trilogy actually--namely, the Have You Never Been Mellow, Clearly Love and Come On Over records. They were often folk-pop full of pastoral loveliness and gorgeous orchestrations. In the first minute or so of "Everytime It Snows", you will once again hear Olivia return to the former majesty of those early recordings. Soon Jon Sedeca's voice enters and dominates the song and it all unravels. The rest of the Christmas Wish record sounds like ... well ... product. It is innocuous and pedestrian at best. But for a moment on "Everytime It Snows", one could image how spectacular of a record Olivia Newton-John is still capable of creating. After all, she defined 70's mellow. She WAS 70's mellow and no one can touch the beauty and austerity of her mid-70's records. Maybe Olivia would one day reconsidering returning to the acoustic settings and gorgeous orchestral sweeps.  Wonderful edition to your holiday collection!
This CD is not only a marvelous collection of vocals, but they are combined with beautiful instrumental interludes. They result is a soothing Christmas musical treat I enjoyed over and over again this year, and will continue to enjoy for many seasons to come. February 8, 2008

This is one excellent Christmas CD. The traditional songs are done beautifully. The original songs are great! My Santa hat goes off to you Olivia for a wonderful Christmas CD to be enjoyed for years to come! December 16, 2007

 A solid collection of Xmas songs, traditional and new...
I've been a fan of Olivia throughout the years...and she has entertained us from her country music beginnings to her quirky, pop culture contributions.

She has offered here a solid collection of Christmas songs, both traditional and new pop classics she sings solo, and a couple of duets, all worth a listen. She is doing what she does so angellically, sing a simple song so BEAUTIFULLY. The instrumental, well-orchestrated interludes are also a plus on this CD. It's a must have for your Xmas collection this year and years to come, you will not be disappointed. It's quite different from the usual offerings, and for this reason...it will stand the test of time.

No one sings a ballad like Olivia does, and in this collection, she returns to us by evoking the true spirituality and quiet joys of the season. This CD is less about loud holiday jingles, but more prayerful and HYMNAL in nature. It's mostly sold at Target Stores, so get your copy while supplies last for this season.
