rating: 4 Quotegood movie, saw it once in a theatre. Sent this as a gift to granddaughter.Quote
Although I don't think her performance was quite Oscar material, the movie was good and the acting was good, and I would recommend it. July 13, 2008

As Juno began, I, the cynic, was gearing up to criticize: the opening credits' track approached annoying, the early dialogue was exceeding crass... At movie's end I knew nothing but Juno's smile.

Ellen Page leads this smart and sweet film on its way, as a witty, sixteen-year-old free-spirit who suddenly finds herself pregnant. Juno delighted me with her quirks and intrigued me with an odd maturity; her blunt generosity in the midst of a very adult situation was remarkable, as was her bizarre sense of humor and shameless wit. The rest of the cast, down to the smallest bit role, displayed a keen ability to make themselves both realistic and unique. Juno's budding love for the boy whose child she bears is particularly sweet. And odd.

I heartily recommend Juno. As I mentioned before, there is some crass slang as the movie opens, but the allegedly tinny soundtrack has actually grown on me. The content is mature, as are some of the jokes. But it all weaves together into a truly charming experience. I smiled rather broadly as the credits began.

Juno is a phenomenon, there's no doubt about that. And it really does deserve to be, for shining the spotlight on teen pregnancy. However, I really liked- not loved- this movie. The cast is amazing, especially Jennifer Gardner, Ellen Page, and Olivia Thirlby. The movie is pretty funny, but does slow down in parts. All in all, however, it is a solid 4 star movie to watch. So much heart and comedy. Juno was a sweet and hilarious surprise. The writing was clever, and Ellen Page's acting was stellar. I loved the whole movie (so many great lines to memorize), and I cried at the end. I didn't realize that this would be one, but it was a feel-good tear-jerker, and those are the best kind. I will probably buy this later. See it! July 8, 2008

Maybe it was all the hype, all the buildup...but when I finally sat down to watch Juno, I have to say I was decidedly unimpressed. Was I supposed to find a message in the movie? What was this message? I found the acting...OK, the storyline....eh. July 7, 2008
