User Reviews
Average user review:I think I find this show very appealing because I don't know much about the law and how things really are in a court room, but I thoroughly enjoy the character development and the tension in the storyline. For those who don't mind letting loose and enjoying a real roller coaster ride, this show is for you! April 24, 2008
One Of The best
a great Great saison for that serie ! hope there will be a second one sincerely. Glenn close is an Huge actess, Rose Byrne too. The intrigue is subtile and fascinating. Two thumbs up ! April 5, 2008
forensic buff
I give it 5 stars only for the acting. I watched a couple of the series but the is bruttle. Close plays the part well. I guess it will have to grow on me, but as present I won't be getting the next set. April 5, 2008
The Best Series to Hit T.V. Since L.A. Law!!!
I'm a legal secretary, so most of the time I take a pretty dim view of televised law shows because they are so fictionalized. Now I'm not saying Damages depicts all medium-to-large boutique firms out there, but based on my experience and some of the legal professionals I've worked with, it can hit pretty close to the mark. Regardless of its believability, this show is just damned entertaining. I'm an avid fan and can hardly wait until next season to find out why the Feds are investigating the female version of Pacino in "The Devil's Advocate", Ms. Patty Hewes. April 4, 2008
Storytelling
This serie isn't about class action or struggle for power or ambitious characters or anything like that. It's about how a rather simple (simplistic ?) linear story can keep you hung up by a sophisticated, manipulative construction with constant switches between the past and the present, how isolated slices of dialogs and appearence of minor characters can modify your perception of the ins & outs of the main story... Some twists are quite hard to swallow (the 175 millions offer for example), and once you finally understand what really happened and who did what, you finally realize how you've been manipulated from the beginning and if it was really worth keeping brainstorming about it... Finally you realize that this serie is rather a metaphor on how TV networks, websites and other modern media can manipulate audiences by telling rather dull stories in sophisticated & manipulative ways...
