About - Juno

Fox Searchlight Picture’s December 2007 coming-of-age comedy Juno, directed by Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking). The narrative centers on whip-smart Juno (Ellen Page, in a breakthrough role), a teenage girl faced with an unplanned pregnancy from an afternoon with the charmingly unassuming Bleeker (Michael Cera). Juno finds her unborn baby the perfect set of parents in Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), an affluent suburban couple who are eager to adopt. Along with the total support of her parents, (Allison Janney and J.K. Simmons) Juno conquers her problems head-on, displaying a youthful exuberance that is both smart and unexpected. The film was an official selection at this year’s Telluride, Toronto, and London film festivals and received the Best Film award at the Rome International Film Festival. The soundtrack to Juno mixes classic rock favorites with indie-rock gems.

rating: 5 Easy
While I was watching the movie Juno I was surprised at how much I noticed the music in the movie. There were certainly a few big name artists like The Kinks and Buddy Holly, but the majority was songs I did not know by people I really had not heard of. What they had in common was that they were unusual, most had a good folksy beat, and almost all of them stuck in my head. So much so that I went out and bought the album. There is also another album, which I saw on iTunes, but can't seem to find on Amazon of B-Sides. These are all songs from scenes cut from the movie. It is a great companion piece and has many great songs as well. May 4, 2008

rating: 5 great songs, very easy on the ears
Great purchase. After I left the theater I knew I would have to buy the sound track! It goes very smooth on the ears, vey easy to listen. I bought one for me and one for the girlfriend, who haven`t seen the movie yet and already love it, just for the songs.

Wrapping it up, nice movie with a must have sound track! Go for it! May 2, 2008

rating: 4 Radio, Radio
The soundtrack is a great example of utilizing artists from the past with the music of the present to deliver an outstanding package, which works well with the moods of the movie.

In what could be a playlist from a college radio station, there is oldies and classic rock (Buddy Holly, The Kinks and Mott the Hoople's timeless anthem, All the Young Dudes), with a solid helping of the indie scene through Sonic Youth, Cat Power, Belle & Sebastian and Kimya Dawson, as a solo artist and her bands - Antsy Pants and Moldy Peaches. The real gem - which encapsulates the film - is Michael Cera and Ellen Page on Anyone Else but You.

By pulling music from a variety of sources, the soundtrack is a real as dialing in the college DJ on the car radio before driving out of the high school parking lot immediately after school. April 28, 2008
