"Piece of Me" is brilliant, catchy pop geniousity (is that a word?). With its electro-synth music, electronically-enhanced vocoder singing, and memorable hook, it is one of the best dance pop songs I have heard in a very long time. The remixes of this song surpass all expectations, giving the mid-tempo sound of this song an energy boost. With a thumping dance beat, Piece of Me really shines on the "Boz o Lo" Remix, which turns this single into a chaotic dance-floor anthem. Through its dance mixes, Piece of Me becomes one of those songs that DJs save for the last number, the song that closes the club on the highest high a song could provide... February 19, 2008

"Piece of Me", the second single from Britney Spears' new album Blackout, follows "Gimme More" and is just as good, if not better than its counterpart.

The single, which details Spears' opinion of people's - and the paparazzi's - obsession with her and her life, is catchy and exciting, with an infectious chorus and snappy verses. The song is tinged with retro electronic beats and is a great dancefloor song.

One of the best singles from Blackout and one of the best singles of 2007, "Piece of Me" proves that Spears is back professionally, even if her personal life is still turbulent. This song shows Spears at her best, cheeky, mocking and loving her work. February 18, 2008

This is another worthy remix package for Britney. It's so satisfying to have so many remixes--most of them really good--coming out from britney's latest CD. The album version of Piece of Me is offered here, but dance fans will most likely move right on to track 2 and 3, both of which give this song the remix style that best fits. The Boz o Lo remix is just short of 5 minutes long, which is a shame, because it's got such a great electro/retro 80s feel that you want it to be longer. At 6:27, the bimbo jones mix has a rich electro house bassline and beat that drives the song forward, and it also has some very 80s synth stylings. The 6:49 Vito Benito mix has more of a funky guitar filling out the electro house vibe, as well as some background piano, which doesn't quite retain the integrity or attitude of the original mix of the song. And finally, you get a `remix' of Gimme More, which is actually just a 4:12 second alternate original mix featuring a rap by Lil Kim. No joke, Kim starts the song off going, "Kimme kimme...more, kimme...more, kimme kimme...more." February 11, 2008

Sure, I know about Britney's fast track down the self-destruction path. It's hard not to know. When I turn on the TV, she makes the evening news (that's in addition to tabloid "news" magazines littering our stations). When I wait to checkout at the grocers, her image graces the tabloid magazine decking the "impulse-buy" aisles. I'm not a groupie by any means, although I admit I enjoyed her early boppity-songs like "Baby One More Time" and "Oops I Did It Again". However, I find "Piece of Me" is one of Spears' most candid work to date.

The images and words for "Piece of Me" far surpasses an initial, weak attempt with the images in Spears' music video "Everytime". "Piece of Me" shows us that how much of what Spears was and has become is as much a reflection of our society as the choices Spears has made as an individual. What kind of mental state of mind can I expect from a person whose "adoring" public and paparazzi treat her as their property with full rights to worship as an object while at the same time laugh, gawk, and sneer at her? That's in addition to "set-up situations" Spears alluded to in "Piece of Me": "I'm Mrs. 'You want a piece of me?' Tryin' and pissin' me off / Well get in line with the paparazzi / Who's flippin' me off / Hopin' I'll resort to some havoc / End up settlin' in court".

I'd be amazed if she DIDN'T descend down the spiral of destruction.

So here's to another celebrity who our society relishes in building up to tear down in public spectacles. Who opportunists drools over. Who false friends swarms around... And from whom photographers and tabloid journalists earn their keep for another day. February 3, 2008

Blackout
I really feel Britney is getting a bad rap on her music... I really dont care about her personal life.
Her music is just fine.
I wish she could dance a little better.
