About Flogging Molly - Float
What makes a band truly remarkable? Insightful lyrics? Memorable melodies? Blow-your mind live performances? The truth is that it takes all of those things along with a boundless enthusiasm, an infectious energy and a supreme devotion to the fans. With this rare combination, a band may ascend past "good," - and reach sublime. Drawing on the hardships and joys of their own lives and a musical history ranging from old world Celtic to modern day punk rock, the seven members of Flogging Molly do just that, and they do it with a charm and an ease that makes them one of the most revered bands performing today. Flogging Molly isn't a mere band, they're a seven member nuclear family. They are as devoted to one another as they are to the music they create. It's no wonder their extended family - the legion of loyal Flogging Molly fans - keeps growing every day. Product Description

Purchased for my 17 yr. old nephew. He loves the group and really likes this CD.
September 29, 2008I'm new to Flogging Molly's music, but I have to say I'm in love with them already. I would HIGHLY recommend picking this cd up. I can't compare them to any other Irish Punk out there. You just have to listen to samples of them and judge for yourself.
September 27, 2008FM is one of my all time favorite bands. I've seen them at 20+ times live. I like the album, but it's by far their most mellow work yet. It's still Flogging Molly and even their mellow stuff is great, but there isn't those 3-4 songs on the album that make you go nuts at the shows. All in all, its still solid, just not my favorite FM work.

The first time I heard this cd, I was very disappointed. I have been a fan of Flogging Molly since I saw them at the Warped Tour in 2001, so it's been a while. I wasn't a huge fan of the last album (within a mile of home). Then, when I first heard this, my first thought was sell-out. However, I have listened to it a lot more over the past week, and I am really enjoying this cd. A lot of these songs actually seem like more traditional irish tunes to me. Some of the parts in Us Of Lesser Gods reminds me a bit of Christy Moore.
I just saw them live in Philly this week, and I highly recommend seeing Flogging Molly in concert if you have not yet. They played a great mix of old and new songs, and it was one of the best shows I have seen it a while. My body was sore the next day from bouncing around for an hour and a half. I didn't realize that Dave King and Bridget Regan got married! They got married in Tokyo during this tour, and he announced it on stage! I'm thinking Bridget may be pregnant as well! Congrats Dave and Bridget on your marriage (it's about time) and excellent cd!
September 18, 2008Saw FM live right before the relase of this album so it was interesting to hear the new songs over again being able to recognize them from the concert. Not thier best album, but unlike other reviews i like the "pollished" version, its easier for the non Molly fan to listen too, a good introduction and the clean recording mean that the message is loud and clear. and boy, what a message.
