Borboletta is yet ANOTHER great Santana album. In fact, I easily put it on the same level of enjoyment as Abraxas and Caravanserai.

Santana just knows how to write excellent songs and back it up with some of the most beautiful guitar playing of the 70's (yes, I'm fully aware how many great guitarists there were back then, and Santana is right up there with the very best).

By now you should know what a Santana album sounds like, because as much as I love these early 70's albums, they all pretty much sound the same. One major surprise on this album is a song called "Promise of a Fisherman". Talk about INCREDIBLE! The keyboard jam in the middle is scorching hot, and the guitar playing that comes and goes is just flat out brilliant. It's the best song Santana ever did, and I wouldn't just say that unless I really meant it. It's absolutely incredible.

The rest of the album is more or less normal Santana sound, style and songwriting, and that's a GREAT thing in my book, so the album gets an easy 5 star rating. August 12, 2008

My review title basically sums it up. Santana, both the individual and the band, has never been the same since...irregardless how many albums he's sold. July 25, 2008

I was disappointed when this CD arrived, listed as a 2008 release, only to find that it was identical to the same release as the very ordinary early CD remaster of "Borboletta", in other words nothing at all contemporary, neither newly remastered or even packaged with any information other than title details. Amazon needs to do more to inform shoppers of the exact product being sold. July 17, 2008

I think this is my favorite Santana release. I tend to prefer the stuff from 71-74- which I think is superior musically, lyrically, and spiritually. It's not as straight ahead rock as his first few and what he would later return to starting in 78/79 with Inner Secrets and Marathon. Borboletta to me, is kind of the apex. It's the culmination of everything he'd done before it. It's not as jazzy as Caravan or Welcome, and it's not as straight ahead as the first 2 or 3. It's a great mixture of it all, which is why I think it's superior. And lyrically, although I know I'll get slammed hard for this, I think it's some of the greatest I've ever heard. Life is Anew, Practice What You Preach, and Mirage- pretty thoughtful, sensitive, introspective, and spiritual stuff, kids. May 13, 2008

This is one of my all time favorites. I have actually purchased this CD at least 5 times. That is exactly how great I feel it is. I'm sure you will enjoy this cd, as much or more, as I do. February 8, 2008
