About Danity Kane - Welcome To The Dollhouse

Welcome to the Dollhouse, Danity Kane's upcoming sophomore album, finds the ladies hotter than ever. The set is the follow-up to their blockbuster debut, which made a spectacular #1 debut on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart upon its initial 2006 release. Fueled by the top 10 smash, "Show Stopper," the self-titled album went on to achieve RIAA platinum certification for U.S. sales exceeding one million units. Now, with their new single, "DAMAGED," Danity Kane have more than matched their Cinderella story debut, crafting an irresistible collection of new hits in association with such studio superstars as Danja, Stereotypes, Bryan Michael Cox, and Seven Aurelius (LL Cool J, Ashanti, Vanessa Carlton). rating: 4 Solid sophomore effort
I have to admit, I really didn't pay Danity Kane's first CD that much attention. Sure I heard the singles, "Show Stopper," and "Ride For U," and they weren't bad songs, but nothing really grabbed me about them as singers and performers. I honestly thought they were just a sexed-up version of Diddy's first Bad Boy female group, Dream, who would fade into oblivion after their first album too. Then, I started watching MTV's "Making the Band 4" where Bad Boy's newly formed male group, Day26 shared a mansion in Miami with DK to record the perspective CDs. Yeah, the hookups and fights between the two groups and Donnie kept me glued, but the thing that shocked me the most is that Danity Kane really were a talented group and not just one platinum album wonders.

Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, and Wanita "D.Woods" Woodgett make up the fivesome. They are pretty, talented, and strong-willed (Aubrey has a mouth like no other!) On their sophomore disc, "Welcome to the Dollhouse," they mix club jams ("Bad Girl," "Pretty Boy," "Strip Tease,") Pop/R&B grooves ("Sucka For Love," "Ecstacy," "Secret Place (an interlude that should have been a full song!)) & big ballads ("Poetry," "Is Anybody Listening.") The first single, "Damaged," is one catchy pop song. The poppy beat that transitions into a slow, string heavy groove by the end, mixed with DK's sharp vocals ("How you gonna fix it, fix it?") will likely go down as one of the best songs of '08.

Danity Kane should feel proud of their success. They single-handedly rescued Bad Boy from it's deathbed. They are the only female group in history to have their first two CDs debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. I don't know how much longer they will last as a group (let's face it, female groups don't have long shelf lives anymore and I have a feeling Dawn Richard will be the "Beyonce" of Danity Kane and have a huge career) but these dolls have everything to smile about right now.

I love these girls, so it was hard to give them only 3 stars, but I just don't love this cd the way I loved their debut album! It might be because I'm a big R&B fan (especially ballads), and the ladies of DK definitely took this cd in another direction, and got a little more funky and eclectic on this one. I honestly only like a handful of the songs, and only LOVE 2 of them. :-( They're still my girls though, and I support them on that alone. Enjoy it! May 7, 2008

If you are looking for a Cd to be bumping out of your car all summer then you need to be bumping this one. From there 1st song "Bad Girl" you start to get the growth that this girls have had vocally and with Missy Elliot on the track will be a summer smash. Other tracks to keep you moving are there smash hit "Damaged" with its great club dance we also get "Striptease" which I cant stop Listing to "Sucka for Love", "Lights go Out" "Poetry" "2 of you" are sure to keep you interested in this Pop international Cd. The only thing that will hurt the fans is there 8 city making the band tour which does not even hit every major city make there Cd sales rise even higher. I know if they would come to San Jose Ca or Fresno Ca they would make lot's of people happy I even Heard people in Texas saying why dont you come here ohh will still buy this hit maker Cd. Lets hope for more then 2singles Diddy. May 4, 2008
