but, what on earth is this? If it's greatest hits two package, they should have labeled it that. It misses nearly all of his hits and concentrates on his career since taking care of his very demanding cat when he was without a contract. Perhaps his new label didn't want to shell out the money for rights for his early stuff or the person who put this together knows absolutely nothing about Morrissey. The cover image seems to be the only thing they used from the 80's, which is almost a contradiction considering 90% of the material is from his last two albums. If you are really a noob to Moz, go for the Best Of CD which does a much better job at giving an overview of Moz's career. Or send me 10 bucks and I'll put together a much better Greatest Hits compilation. Beethoven may have been deaf, but I'm not.
July 21, 2008I don't know why, but 75% of the songs on this compilation are from the last 5 years. What happened to the late 80s, early 90s work?!
May 27, 2008 | | Greatest hits? but not a best of...
The greatest hits relates to number of records sold not to quality of song writing so classics like 'November Spawned a Monster' are missing. But a collection of Mozza songs are always going to be better than 99% of the current album charts. This album may have disappointed the die hard fans but still a great choice for the casual fan.
April 26, 2008 | | Shoplifters of the World . . . er, don't bother, really.
I bought this, and while I'm not ashamed as I am a bottle of Open Pit shy of Waco for all things Mozzer, in comparison with the first best of, the heavy reliance of his past two albums from which this best of's content draws, and the old standard draw of 1-2 new songs, along with a great, albeit nonessential live album in light of Moz's previous live CDs either with the Smiths or solo (Apparently, he hates Bush. (Um, Steve. We kind of suspected that anyway. OH, YOU MEAN DUBYA!) unless you just really, really, REALLY need all things Morrissey, I'd go pick something else up, maybe for someone you care about. Then, if you have the cash to spare (who does these days?), grab this.
Signed,
