In the years building upto "In Silico" Pendulum has changed drastically. Not just the style of the group, but the band itself. Pendulum went from 3 members to 6! This being said, their newer music incorporates many different styles of music. More collaborative. I love this cd, and I think it's great, but it is really different then "Hold Your Colour," which was a complete stroke of genius. Instead of playing raves, pendulum is now playing concerts. Visions, the Other Side, Grantie, and Show down have to be some of my favorite tracks on this cd. There is not a song I didn't like on the cd. But I do not think I would classify it as Drum and Bass or the previous Jungle category that pendulum would fit into. New pendulum is a style of its own. Bringing more pop, rock, and hip-hop elements into their music. Also, not to mention all of the singing.
Bottom line: This is a great cd, but if you're buying it because you are a pendulum fan, you might be surprised, or even disappointed.

Well, damn. I can't say much more about this album; I was looking for a killer followup to Hold Your Colour, with all of that classic Pendulum spice and energy. I was expecting new and inventive beats, no matter what direction they went in; I was expecting a beautifully polished shaped piece of work, weaving in subtle layers to produce a deliciously tasty whole. I'd heard that Pendulum had changed styles, gone in a different direction, and I came in thinking that whatever they did, they'd make it rock just as hard as Hold Your Colour.

But sadly, I didn't get a lick of that from this album. I listened to it through a couple times, and I got --- well, I'm not sure how to describe what kind of a letdown this album was. The style isn't offensive, but the lack of finish and polish surely is. Pendulum takes their inventive ideas from Hold Your Colour and comes up with a couple of new ones, but all the tracks go the same way on In Silico: you start off by thinking, "this is an interesting concept; I wonder how they'll develop it". But they never do -- it's the same thing for three minutes or four minutes or seven minutes.

The only track that comes near having the same level of taste and attention to detail is The Other Side, which is a neat fusion of oldschool Hold Your Colour-era Pendulum and almost something on the order of Ratatat with the delicious fusion of rhythm and arpeggiated leads.

So, good try, Pendulum. You can do what you're trying to do, but this isn't it. My only questions after this are: what went wrong? Where did Pendulum go? October 5, 2008

I feel totally dissapointed by this album. Hold your Colours was genious Drum N Bass, now this one seems like a totally different band. Sucks when bands differ in their style so much they sound like someone else.

Please get back to doing Drum N Bass. Too much singing, too much rock, this is not what I came to listen from Pendulum. August 18, 2008

I give this a 5/5 because its a great CD. Yes its different from HYC, and I LOVE HYC. But see the thing is, if it was just like HYC then it wouldnt be good they have to mix things up a little. Because if it was like HYC then people like us would be posting reviews saying "This is a cheap imitation of HYC nothing new." Thats why this CD IS GREAT. its something different with a similar feel. ITS SO WORTH IT August 17, 2008

I know a lot of people have been talking trash about this new CD from Pendulum but i dont understadn why. Pendulum's first CD, Hold Your Colour, was awesum, and this one is just as good if not better.

I think people are complaining about this CD because it is more rock/electronica then D&B. But Pendulum has always classified themselves more so as a rock band then D&B, so this In Silico just more so focuses on that.

The CD still has amazing bass (of course!) and there are songs on here that fit nicely into the D&B catagory. Like Showdown, Different, Visions, Midnight Runner exc.

What got me hooked on Pendulum awhile back was their song Slam from Hold Your Colour. Its been my favorite song for such a long time, but now having listened to this CD (over and over again) i think my new favorite might be The Tempest. I absolutly LOVE the instrumental at the end. Its almost like a Pendulum version of a classical song.

I highly recommend this CD to any Pendulum fans out there and anyone who likes Drum & Bass or music in general.
