I first read about of the new band Uh Huh Her via the internet who mentioned that this was Leisha Hailey's (from The L Word) new band with Camilla Grey a few months ago. A month or two ago I heard samples in a record store. I didn't think the samples was enough to do the band justice. I recently got around to getting a copy of COMMON REACTION, the debut album by Uh Huh Her. I would Uh Huh Her's music is a mix of indie rock and electronica. I am so glad I got myself a copy of COMMON REACTION. I have not been able to stop listening to it. The music is addictive. The songs are laden with catchy pop hooks without losing that indie rock edge and being too sugary and annoying. The music almost has that shoegazing sound of Lush and My Bloody Valentine. Almost but not quite. There definitely elements of that sound in some of the band's music like on "Say So" with the jingly guitar riffs. I love all of the songs. I especially love "Wait Another Day" and the title track. The songs are ear candy that I can't get enough of. There is not one song I can not skip. COMMON REACTION is a wonderful album by a very promising band. I hope to hear more from Uh Huh Her in the near future.
November 22, 2008 | | Finally some decent music to listen to! | |
I have to say I have been a fan of The L Word so after hearing some songs from the cd on the show I knew I had to get this cd. It made me Think of Veruca salt which I loved with the 2 women vocals but I like Leisha and Camila as a duo. Very good cd I've been waiting for something decent to listen to that has come out recently. Music has been sucking so much lately that I have mostly songs from the 90's on my mp3 player. Thank you Uh Huh Her for something I can call music!
November 18, 2008This CD is very upbeat and can really get you moving. Listened to some of the songs on myspace.com and got a feel for the CD. It was well worth the wait. Can't wait for the next one to come out. You know it's good if Leisha Hailey is in the band.

This album truly shimmers from beginning to end. Purchasing after hearing "Explode", I was hopeful that there was more to this band than a one-hit punch. Surprisingly, each song is sugar to the ears, blending electronica and rock, while adding just a hint of sweetener to each song. The hooks are huge, and the vocals are as alluring, gritty, and downright sexy. There's a tragic longing to each of these songs, creating the electrical mood often experienced with a first love, and inherently, first heartbreak. It's nice to hear an album that just flows great from one song into the next. Definately worth the purchase.
September 13, 2008As some other people have said, it's a bit hard to describe UHH's new record. Forget categories, genres, and labels... it's just so easy on the ears! The only two songs I tend to skip are "Everyone" and "Dreamer", but it's hard to have a CD where you love every single song, so 9 out of 11 isn't bad at all. Give it a try! You'll love it. P.S. I saw these two ladies perform live last year, they're awesome!
