I had heard an review on National Public Radio and since my husband is a big blues fan, I thought I'd try it. This was a wonderful surprise! We love the CD and would recommend it to anyone - whether they are a major blues fan or not.
November 3, 2008Sonny does it again with some help with his friends. Top cuts are Blue Tarp Blues, Milky Way Home and Storm of Worry.Great disc.
October 29, 2008The songs are good and not just your typical blues. The guitar playing however is outstanding. The best I've heard in years. I nominate it for the album of the year.
October 25, 2008I believe From the REACH will be Sonny's break through album. It should at least receive a grammy nomination for blues album of the year, if not win. Several of the songs are incredible. However, I especially love "When I Still Had You", which sounds like his lament to the loss of old New Orleans. Although Blue Tarp Blues is obviously about Katrina, several other songs have subtle Katrina references. Plus, at the age of 57, Sonny has paid his dues and is highly underrated. Good songs, emotional topic, musician who has paid his dues - sound like Grammy to me. Reminds me of Bonnie Raitt with Nick of Time
