AUSTRALIA'S ALL TIME TOP SELLING FEMALE VOCALIST 8 NUMBER ONE AUSTRALIAN SINGLES & 3.5 MILLON IN SCANS WORLDWIDE At twenty-two Delta Goodrem has already achieved success way beyond her years. Having released two CD's - Innocent Eyes (2003) and Mistaken Identity (2004) which spawned a quick succession of hit singles on the Australian and international charts (most notably topping the charts in the UK and Japan) Delta is now poised to match her international success in the US with the release of Delta. Delta is a collection of twelve 'songs' - in the truest sense of the word - dealing with life, love, and relationships, reflecting both her own life and those of the people around her. The music on Delta was made with the assistance of a world-class collection of producers that include John Shanks (Kelly Clarkson), Marius DeVries (Madonna, U2) and Steve Kipner's team (Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield) and noticeably showcases Delta's own work as a talented songwriter and performer. Delta is very proud of this new album and feels it's a great representation of where and who she is at the moment, "Everything in front of me is super-exciting, and I'm just looking forward to people hearing my music."

Amazon.comDelta sounds like a young Celine Dion, but with a slightly more haunting quality, which I like. This is a GREAT cd! The seller got it to me promptly and as described, which I appreciated.

I loved this album, more so than her previous one (Mistaken Identity - which I didn't really like to start off with at all) and perhaps as much as her first album (Innocent Eyes - A huge success in Australia). It does take away one original track from the Australian release (The Guardian) and replaces with Born to Try (2002 release) which is a bit of a pity, but understandable when trying to break into a new market. I love the cover photo too! Way softer and prettier than the Australian release. For those that loved this album, you should definitely look into buying the previous two albums.
October 9, 2008I received the CD in an aqequate time frame. However, the CD was less than I expected. Probably just personal preference, but the only song I really like on the album is the radio hit.
October 6, 2008Not only do I love every sample of this cd, I think it does not need any other production assists (ie Timbaland, etc). The music and lyrics are beautiful just the way they are. To have this creative ability at 23 is amazing!

Delta Goodrem, like Kylie Minogue before her, got her start as an actress on the long-running Aussie soap, Neighbours. Her first CD was released in Australia in 2003 and became a huge smash - yielding 5 #1 singles and going 14 times platinum (which in Australia equals around 1 million CDs). She released her second CD in 2004, giving her two more #1 hits and selling around 250,000 copies. In other words, she's big news in Australia. Because of this success, her record company is finally releasing one of her CDs in America - 2007's "Delta." Unfortunately, "Delta" did a bit poorer in Australia than did her prior CDs, with only two of the singles making the Top 10.
I knew of Delta Goodrem before I received this CD, but I hadn't heard much of her music, so I can't say how "Delta" compares to her first two CDs. Overall, "Delta" is a solid CD filled with adult-contemporary leaning songs. Her style reminds me of Vanessa Carleton - piano-driven, singer-songwriter type of music. Delta co-wrote most of the songs, she has a nice voice, and the CD is a pleasant listen. Many of the songs are autobiographical; for example, "God Laughs" seems inspired by her bout with cancer when she was just 18-years-old. Unfortunately, most of the songs, while competent, are fairly generic sounding, and Delta's overall style seems derivative of other singers. When I listen to the CD, I often have thoughts such as, "That section sounds like Alanis Morrisette" or some other female singer-songwriter. She's clearly talented, but this set of songs just doesn't seem like the ideal material to introduce her to a larger audience. Ultimately, "Delta" is solid pop music but unlikely to lead to a U.S. breakthrough or be recalled in the future -- it's just a tad boring.
